... if you're posting it on Instagram, probably. If you're posting publicly WITH corporate blessing, definitely.
If you're not some publicity seeking narcissist who's just doing their job and is not actively filming your bowel movements, no.

I've got no problem with anyone who doesn't wear the hat or jacket; I've flown with more than a couple of new FOs who don't even have a uniform yet. I never said anything to them, but they were always quick to explain why they weren't in proper uniform ... I imagine it's because they've already had a few pilots comment on their lack of uniform.
But when one is posting stuff publicly as a United pilot with corporate approval, that's subject to a different level of scrutiny. If you're going to post stuff where every single person sees it, you need to follow ALL of the rules.
Remember when the female scab who wrote a book or two and had a website posted some pictures she took from the flight deck? She got fired. She appealed and never got her job back. Don't post stuff for the public to see if anyone is going to interpret it as a violation of the rules.

I know I do stupid things from time to time, but I don't have any active social media accounts because I don't want an additional level of scrutiny that would highlight my mistakes.
Hold yourself out to the public and you are going to have a lot of eyeballs looking at you. Some of those eyeballs are going to be critical.
Sure it's petty, but I'm not a fan of this type of publicity for the profession. I know I sound like a jerk, but in my opinion, his narcissistic behavior, as posted on the instagram links posted here, degrades the profession. (I don't actively seek to view his posts).
I'll leave you with this short thought - WWSD (what would Sully do). IMO, that's the standard all Professional pilots should strive for.

sounds like you need to apply for a management position. Since his actions are so egregious have you filed a professional standards or CPO complaint? Im guessing you and others on here won’t because you’d take a shotgun blast to the face for bringing it up since he’s doing it with their blessing. Not to mention some of the posts on here would result in HR actions for the comments against the female pilot.

Personally I don’t police the uniform guidelines unless they aren’t wearing one for a flight… I let the management toads do that. Each his own… and by the way I don’t care what Sully would do if you are asking.

You seem like a natural-born leader.

Its kinda weird there's tons of comments about this guy here, but not one negative comment on his IG posts. Idk, almost as if you guys are afraid to give your opinion where he would know who you are actually are.

Oh boy, you walked yourself into this one…. He deletes all the negative comments buddy. That’s “kinda weird” isn’t it?

Thanks for unintentionally proving our point though! Now you can leave.

Uniform police doesn’t equal leadership… but I’m sure you are the epitome of a great leader in your own mind.

For the record… I didn’t wear a hat today/yesterday on my transcons 😱… feel free to turn me in.

‘it’s because their are a ton of keyboard cowards on forums and other social media. Like I’ve said repeatedly… if they really thought this guys feed was atrocious they’d do something about it and file a professional standards and|or HR complaint. Reason they don’t is because they know it would turn on them and go south quick.

Wait a minute! That’s Keyboard Warriors! YOU DONT EVEN KNOW ALL RIGHT?!

Social Media is kicking everyone’s arse.

clearly PH is a friend of yours. You’re a bit too “outraged” at people’s disdain for his IG nonsense. I also think “a shotgun blast to the face” is a bit dramatic for what would result if an average pilot complained to official channels about this. Perhaps one would be corrected and advised to move on. You’re suggesting there is actually punitive action for complaining about this?
