TA 2 Wager
When will we see TA 2?

September 22nd

For better or worse I do think much is riding on the economy. If travel pulls back hard it certainly could end up being much longer, but if, as I honestly expect, the downturn is mild then I don't see how management can expect to meet their growth plans with an angry pilot group. I'll keep my fingers crossed for mild recession!

Just trying to figure out if I missed the great news? Has the current TA failed or been pulled? Have any of the proponents of the current TA, besides the C11 Chairman, publicly changed their mind?
My assumption is that the current TA is very much alive and well…best not to forget that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

…. unless the MEC votes this week to cancel the vote which is possible
Whether one likes it or not, the fact is that this TA has gone through the legal acceptance process, is in compliance with the protocol agreement and is up for membership ratification…right now…today. IMHO, it has at least a 50/50 chance of passing based on my 24 years experience as a major airline Pilot. Don’t think the MEC is gonna fall on their sword for Line Pilots…Don’t think that the forums are and accurate representation of Line-Pilots…and don’t think the MEC is scared of the forum warriors… Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Well, you do pay dues, but that doesn't guarantee an outcome. The keybaord warriors are militant and that level of militancy will fester and grow. They will start their own movement at the grass roots level. It will take time, but they can do it faster than ALPA can respond. They are not hamstrung like ALPA is. ALPA has a lot of restrictions in COMMS and really can't afford to go after members who are rocking the boat. That would be perceived as anit-union activity. |

The MEC won't get serious until recalls start taking place. If SFO pilots introduce recall resolutions that would be a very bad sign for the MEC. Same goes for the DEN council and Instructor Council. If 3 or more recalls resolutions are presented that shows the level of frustration. The powerbase for MEC Chair Hamilton lies with the "cooperate and graduate" councils. Once the membership starts going after the weak-kneed council chairs and vice chairs Hamilton will have to decide to if he's going to resign and face mild embarrassment, or be recalled and face major embarrassment. The NC Chair should be recalled at this next special meeting. If NOT, then the membership has to rally and force the local council reps to fish or cut bait. The power of ALPA lies in the members.

But not likely…it would be a public admission of error for the MEC, so it’s damn near an impossibility.
