Why is our reserve coverage language so vague
20-P-4 At its sole discretion, the Company shall determine the specific staffing parameters and metrics that govern trip-trading. The Company agrees to share the general methodology and variables with the SSC, and shall allow the SSC to review specific staffing parameters and metrics at least monthly. The SSC shall be given the opportunity to consult with and make recommendations to the Company on trade criteria, system performance, system upgrades, and error resolution.
It seems to me the company arbitrarily has been juicing some reserve coverage requirements, in my anecdotal experience. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more commentary on this as it pertains to potential contract improvements in the future.
I know of a few other airlines that have specific staffing parameters built in to at the very least give the pilots some transparency in this process. Has this been an issue for anyone else besides me?

I’m sure like others, I am getting a little frustrated with how our reserve pool coverage has been in regards to trip trades. After looking at our CBA I was shocked to find that we had such vague language specifying reserve coverage numbers as it pertains to trip trading…

The language needs to change, it should say, if it's legal to trade, it shall trade, until the real time window. One man's trash is another mans treasure.

Almost daily the pool shows negative numbers. Sadly they can have 25 reserves with zero open pairings and still show negative 5 reserves.

Sounds like we need to make our voice heard on this issue then because I’m hoping they can clear this up as well.
