Pants

Anyone have any recommendations for pants other than the default MnH?

these pants suck and I already had the metal hook thing just fall out on one pair.

I was going to suggest these in navy, but I see they are not in stock currently. I think a lot of pilots have purchased them as a replacement for the uniform pants, especially during the summer months when you don't need to match a jacket for non-international ops.

The navy is unnoticeably close

A Cut Above Uniforms has a specific line of pants labeled "United Compliant" that are a perfect match to the blazer. Machine washable and sturdy.

I am curious though did you try the newest edition of M&H pants that have the stretchy expandable wasteband? Those seem like an improvement over what they used to carry.

Haggar Cool 18 Pro

Navy matches the blazer perfectly. Been wearing these for nearly 20 years. $30/$35 on amazon.

Do you have a link? It looks like there’s a bunch of sub-variants; at least on Amazon.

Some pilots don’t wear pants.

Thanks for the tip... Navy or Dark Navy?

yeah. I like the stretchy waist but the metal hook fell out on one pair. And the two pair I have fit different, e en though they’re the same size.

The Haggar, Ralph Lauren, and Jos A Banks pants look fine but the materials used don’t hold up to the amount of wear required by a pilot. The M&H cost more but the material is more durable IMO… and stand up to constant dry cleaning.

I have both the M and H and the cut above pants. Not much difference between them to me . Just my $0.02

have not purchased a set from a cut above… I do wear their shirts but the backlog on pants has always been the hold up for me. You like the cut above?

The cut above pants are actually ok . In all honesty, they fit a little better and seem to be pretty durable. The cut seems to be more modern than the M and H.

The sizing is certainly more consistent. I didn't hate the M and H pants but the sizes were all over the map.

I did the expand-o-waist dad pants. They are awesome, but the rubber waistband degrades after about 5 years and they no longer expand but are just at their maximum waist.

Of course, by then that might be where your at, so all good.

tallpilot 09-06-2022 06:47 PM

The Jetseam Gen 2 are stretchy waist but without the rubber so that isn't a failure point. That's my recommendation.

Barley 09-06-2022 09:20 PM

Just any old chinese polyester draped around your decaying body will be just fine. Just be sure to stand up in front of the passengers to give hero announcements.

I tried these in navy and the color is way off, fyi.

Thanks for the link. These in navy are spot on color-wise, but the weave is different so you wouldn’t be able to wear them with a jacket. Not a ton of sizes available any longer, though. Based on the sizes and colors available on the haggar site, it looks like they aren’t making them any longer.

Dillard's in-house brand, Roundtree and York, has some TravelSmart Microfiber pants that are better than the Haggars and the other popular pant recommendations. I have tried them ALL and the Dillards pants are the best.

Impossible to find them on Amazon, haggar, eBay or in person in my experience looking the last two months.

Hows the color match to the blazer? The 3 pair I have are getting old and everyone else is back ordered.

TIA

Lee

There are slightly darker than the blazer but close enough by my subjective eye. They were designed to match the navy color of both the M&H and Crew Outfitter's uniforms.

I've been wearing them since Gen 1. They are machine washable and hold up reasonably well.

They have a few sizes on Amazon, but not many.

exact same thing happened on mine. Brand new pants back from the cleaners and hook was gone. I do the expand waist too due to sizing being all over the map on these things.

Thanks for the response. I’ll give them a try. Heck, my current M&H and ACA pants are slightly faded from frequent dry cleaning. Darker out of the box might be good.

For what it's worth, I wrote to MnH and they sent me a return label to replace my broken pants. I've only had them like 6 months, though.

The M&H pants are weird. I broke two pairs within the first month but the third pair has lasted me a year of regular use. Really inconsistent quality control.

WaterRooster 09-09-2022 08:20 AM

Do the ACA pants match the jacket? I only see one navy blue in the color options.

haven’t looked recently but A Cut Above used to have a UAL specific midnight blue choice in addition to standard navy blue or black.
