TA Negotiations

Looks like our TA demands aren't going to be addressed before Nov. 1

Total disaster. This IS a time for unity, but with the recalls flowing and a new MEC soon, it will be nothing but total chaos.

Not saying that not replacing the current MEC isn't the best course of action, but it will lead to a lot of uncertainty at a time when we want the opposite.

Did you honestly think that they would? We are demanding significant labor cost increases while at the same time dealing with recalls and replacements. Unless we only want to polish the Tumi turd a little, this is going to take time. We’re starting over here.

These recalls are effectively cutting off our noses to spite our collective face. A more measured Pilot group would have steered the MEC in a direction toward securing an acceptable contract (as we were doing) and THEN dealt with our leadership afterward. All I care about is the net result. Instead, the egos of a few chose to exploit this moment to engage in a power grab that has deleveraged us at this critical moment.

And that’s ok.

Absolutely.

I guess it's time for the gloves to come off. Perhaps even throw a punch or two.....

clearly you fail to realize that our MEC isn’t listening to ANY ‘steering’ commands sent by a ‘more measured’ pilot group. They didn’t follow our own policy manual and when it was becoming evident the Tumi TA was going to fail they wouldn’t let the vote close. Sorry, but the MEC twice failed to respond to the group they represented and now recall is the only way forward. It doesn’t work the other way around.

In the past the UAL pilot group elected incompetent and dishonest people to represent them, then allowed them to sit on their pro-management hands for YEARS without much if any transparency or accountability.

The recalls are an unfortunate necessity. Our previous leaders were incapable of negotiating in our best interest and using leverage.

Will the UAL pilot group do what is necessary for the best TA possible? Time will tell. The future is in our hands, we could have an industry leading TA tomorrow if we choose, or we can continue to be Kirby’s friend and pick up premium time. Make no mistake, the consensus of the pilot group is responsible for the current mess.

We have nobody to blame but ourselves. We want to win the war but we refuse to fight any battles.
