Upgrade ?'s

I read somewhere that you have to be off probation and have 500 hrs. to upgrade.

Do the 500 hrs. have to be on UAL aircraft?

I know YMMV, but can anyone out there provide a rough estimate of how many hours someone can expect to accrue in a year on reserve on each of the WB's and NB"S?

Thanks!

You need 500 at UAL

no problem with NB
not happening with WB in one year

The 500 hours is a contractual limit on UAL aircraft. You also must have combination totaling 1000 hours of the following:
1000 hrs SIC on UAL aircraft
1000 hrs PIC/SIC 121
1000 hrs PIC 135/91K
1000 hrs TPIC FW Mil (multi-crew) (max 500 hrs credit)

The 500 hours in a year isn’t an issue on NB aircraft as your time on reserve is very short unless you are choosing to bid it. WB…. YMMV, but unlikely to get that in a year, maybe 1.5 years.

Thanks for the helpful info. What kind of hours do the 75/76 typically accrue annually?

I was hired in Jan, had to wait a month for OE. I will have my 500 hours end of November. So it’s doable on the 756 fleet. But I always pick up flying to not sit around. So YMMV.

Are you still on reserve on the 756? How long can one expect to be on reserve on the 756?

Junior pilot on the property has a seniority number above 15,000. That includes all the pilots that are on different Leaves, so there aren't 15000 active pilots, but it gives you a good reference point for the rest of the discussion.

The junior pilot that is gauranteed a line for December in the 756 FO seat has a seniority number of:

DCA 12824
DEN 11248
EWR 13184
IAH 12437
LAX 13010
ORD 12732
SFO 13234

Given the crazy rate of hiring right now, that means that 756 pilots with a full year are prob just getting off of reserve on the coasts, getting close in DCA and ORD and then a couple more months in IAH and a little longer at DEN
