Who's bashing? My union negotiated a concessionary contract and then turned around and tried to sell it to me. I've lost any faith I had in their ability to look out for my interests. I don't have to step up and volunteer, I've done that plenty in the past, I pay my dues.
Because I pay my dues, I don't have to be quiet. I deserve better than the crappy representation I've received. Not angry, just disappointed. And working harder for less, thanks, ALPA! |

I bet you could do way better representing yourself without a union.

Unfortunately the smart people that would be good in these jobs realize the thankless job that it is and hours of personal time it will absorb. You will spend hours of your night on the phone explaining how someones conspiracy theory on xyz isn't accurate only to see them post the same mistruths on an online forum the very next day. The people who are left wanting this job are the politician type, the power hungry or the conspiracy theorist from the above example. I am all for service but we have lost control of the vocal minority at meetings and online discussions are filled with vitriol and very little touching on reality. It isn't just our association either.

I've supported ALPA with much more than just dues money, volunteering extensively on previous contracts. I currently support this pilot group in other areas. I work incredibly hard at it and don't leave anything on the table. I can honestly say I'll leave this place better than I found it.
How about you learn how to read? Not simping for Kirby. Honestly, I'm not even really *****ing about the union, just pointing out that I'll ***** if I damn well want to. They're behind the power curve, but they've shoved the levers up. Eventually they'll not only have the jet under control but will have assessed it too. |

I would love to know what the company brought to the negotiating committee where they said, "ABSOLUTELY NOT! The minimum we will accept is 0600 day one show on reserve, a measly 9.5% raise, and reassignments for line holders nearly at company whim." To say you appreciate their efforts as of late is akin to the woman who suffers domestic abuse and believes she deserves it. Wake up. |
