MEC Chairman Election

I’m only aware of two United pilots who have openly and publicly expressed intention to serve as MEC Chairman and to be considered by the MEC in the eventual election.

I’m sure we all have an opinion of what skills and traits the next MEC Chair should have, although it’s admirable for a candidate to directly address the membership at large, instead of counting votes in anonymity the night before an election.

Only MEC members have a vote, but those votes should be informed by the membership. If a candidate doesn’t announce until Election Day then how can membership make an informed recommendation to the LEC officers?

Are there any other candidates who have publicly announced, so far I’ve seen:

Captain Garry Kravit
Captain Bob Fox

Note to mods: the two names above have publicly announced their candidacy to be a representative to and for United Pilots which includes a UAL BOD seat. They have made themselves “public figures” with respect to forum rules.

C11 email yesterday stated “over 10 pilots so far have submitted their willingness to serve as MC, and the MEC heard from many of these candidates in person this week”

In my opinion, that's part of the huge disconnect we're seeing at the MEC. Sure the candidates will pander to the MEC, but to completely ignore the membership they imply they'd represent? If a candidate can't be bothered to address the membership, or at the very least introduce themselves, how seriously is the membership suppose to take them? After the last MEC, this is what membership is willing to tolerate?

I received the form emails from the two pilots above. Sure they were open letters to anyone that will read, but I have the awareness to address membership is a step in the right direction.

Any other names to add?

C5 sent out a list a few days ago. Just ask your LEC to do the same.

He’s got the best bear videos of anyone running (that I’m aware of). But after 30 years and all that experience, he’s not a retread?
