LAS trips
Is it true that LAS has ~ 60% redeyes? Is this something consistent month to month and can this be expected going forward? - outsider looking in

and….probably? Maybe? Nobody but the company knows the future of scheduling. May is the first month the base will be open (same with MCO). |
Garbage trips! What a flop of a new base. Already massively unfilled lol
|
Company said from the start that LAS would be redeye heavy

I avoid staying overnight in this terrible place. It is full of SIN and EVIL. Anyone residing there or being based there should think about that. I will begrudgingly do a turn out of LAS if I have to, but avoid it during bidding.

Yes and it shows in the first 3 vacancy snapshots. Look how many are transferring out now that they’ve seen the trips. 17 unfilled in LAS I think on today’s snapshot.
|
I expect the exodus to continue as pilots who only bid it to break seat lock move to where they actually want to go.

Anybody who has spent time at the regionals in the past 10 years would have seen this a mile away. Outstation bases always have first out/last in trips, or the garbage in between. Nothing good comes from a base that’s not a hub, you’re getting all the scraps.

SLC is also full of sin and evil, it’s just they are more concerned with covering it up to keep up appearances…..:D

I think this is what’s happening. Would have to look back at the previous awards to find out for sure.

I don’t know about today but 20 years ago when I lived in SLC it had the highest rate of prostitution in the entire country. It seems some of those repressed Mormons needed an outlet out of sight of the church.
One thing is probably irrefutable, most "boys" have a tool they want to use, and most "girls ' have something that they can monetize. Doesn't matter what your religion, what state you live in nor what country. |

That probably had more to do with in SLC they arrested an prosecuted whereas, in other large metro areas it was just accepted practice, and basically just overlooked.

there are currently 17 unfilled CAPTAIN positions in LAS. New hires aren’t bidding for those. what’s happening is that all the new hires (lots) who were put on the 777 in SFO are bidding over to LAS to break their seat lock. Then once it’s awarded, they’re bidding out of LAS on the next vacancy into [whatever]. (I know you know this…I’m just reiterating for anyone who doesn’t). I think the Captain vacancies in Vegas might get worse once the trips really start flowing. I know some people like red eyes, but…every trip? |

I’m hoping they can’t fill it and keep opening more small bases. 🤞🏻 for SEA

I'd love a SEA base too!!!
Vegas, though…everyone I talk to comments on how bizarre of a choice that is for a new base. |
Not a UAL guy. Well I was 20 years ago but. I would have thought LAS would go somewhat senior as there are a lot of pilots that live there and commute to SFO or DEN for the lower cost of living. Or are these pilots on the wide body and wouldn’t downgrade to a 737 ?

Saw LAS and MCO has a bone being tossed to folks who live there while also providing a cost saving with decreasing the number hotel nights required.

I was referring to the large number of CAs bidding back to LAX/SFO. 10 advertised vacancies and there were 17 unfilled on yesterday’s snapshot. 9 bid out of with only 1 FO taking the position as the other incoming is already a 320 CA.

I would think that as we get more airframes additional bases will become necessary. I was really surprised at LAS as opposed to PHX given how many pilots live in the PHX area. I think it would have been as senior as MCO.
