75/76

How hard is it to get the 75/76 in training? How are A/C awarded.. age, SS? Any rumors the Orlando base ( when open) will grow and eventually include this fleet. Thanks!

756 is offered in every new hire class. Seniority is determined by age (old to young). MCO is a 737 only base for the foreseeable future

A few minutes of searching threads with multiple posts in the last week would show new hires getting the 756 in training frequently, and that class seniority for bidding fleet type goes by age. Have a look in those threads for more specific info. If not awarded in class could likely bid over in the first vacancy so long as you were ok with EWR.

Have heard no rumors of MCO expanding to include the 756 and would evaluate it as unlikely. The 756 pays about the same as the 73 (except for the 767-400) so if MCO is important just go to the 73.

On average, how soon could a new hire bid over to ORD on the 756?

Anywhere between 2 days to two years.

I’ll phrase it a different way… What hire date ballpark has the junior spot on the 756 ORD been at over the past, say, 6 months?

737 is my first choice, I’m just trying to decide what my second aircraft choice is in case I don’t get the 737 for some reason. I should be plenty senior enough in class to get it, but I want to be prepared just in case.

As I understand this scenario, you are XYZ 756 FO and you want to swap to ORD 756 FO.

Looks like it has been in the 3-4 month range recently. When you get that far down into the weeds, it's easy for timelines to swing "a lot"

If you luck into a bid being open shortly after hire, the bid could be effective before you ever hit the line.
If there was a bid that closed the week before you start, it could be three months before you bid and you might not get it and it might be another three months before you get a bid that is effective three months after that.

Junior pilot there for this bid month was hired 11/22.

In the vacancy previous to the one that’s open now, some with less than 6 months got ORD 756 but they’ll be junior for a long time. If you want ORD as well as decent seniority progression go 73 or bus.

PK387 04-10-2023 09:55 AM

And on the current vacancy snapshot, the junior guy holding it (at least for now) was hired less than two weeks ago

TOGALOCK 04-10-2023 10:07 AM

Excellent. Thank you for the responses. I know it’s always a moving target and the “when can I?” questions can become tiresome. I’m just trying to do my best at navigating the airline change.

I’m currently sitting as a captain with around 4K on the bus. So I’d definitely like a change of scenery.

Can confirm. Gonna be reserve forever on this thing in ORD. I’d say if you want ORD, 737/320 is the way to go.

Could someone please chime in how long it would take to hold junior 75/76 CA in EWR?

Long enough there will be a new contract likely to change it

PK387 04-11-2023 12:59 PM

There's a 2017 hire that may get it during the current vacancy, but generally yeah... I'd say the better part of a decade. By that point, for someone starting now, not only will a new contract (or two) change things, but the 756 fleet will likely have started disappearing.

What does the 756 flying and seniority look like for SFO? Any idea of the timing for the remainder of the 752 retirements?

QOLmax 04-11-2023 05:14 PM

Looking at BES drops in the last few classes, I haven't seen any IAD at all. If one wants to get 756 to IAD, but has to select EWR when class starts, any idea (ballpark) how long it might take to shift to IAD? Thanks!

As far as I know it's kinda crappy, and therefore pretty junior (SFO 756 CA actually went unfilled recently). Probably a good number of redeyes, especially for those junior in their seat. No sure on the timing question.

Most junior guy to get DCA 756 FO on the recent vacancy was just over seniority number 15k. Best guess 6-9 months from starting.
