Well, thanks to the RLA, you’ll have to wait about 2 more years…

What is the practical purpose of a strike vote when we have not filed for mediation?

Gives a crystal clear message to management/BOD/etc that we are not just a few malingerers and that the union is not exaggerating Pilot anger.

it also stirs the pot in the media and with the general public that have 0 understanding of the RLA.

I’ve heard multiple times SK doesn’t think pilots are really that upset right now.

Because the traveling public doesn’t know any better. And when they think we are going on strike and start to book away it makes Kirby finally have to address labor issues. Of course this is contingent on 99% of our pilot group being smart enough to realize that there is only one correct answer on this vote…….(spoiler alert, it’s yes. Yes you support a strike.)

Imagine a few well-positioned billboards at our hubs, in big clear letters: UNITED PILOTS VOTE TO STRIKE. The public doesn't know RLA nuance. They just see that and book away. The mistake was not doing it before summer bookings.

agree with the question however ,

when I did the picket in orlando , I heard multiple families walking by gong “oh my god I hope my flight isn’t cancelled” look hunny they’re on strike .

it’s all perception , people aren’t educated on the RLA , they have no idea .

terrible PR for Kirby , his growing airline is a disgruntled work force. His image is very important to him .
