I had success with Cage Marshall Consulting for the prep & Prosoft Binders for the logbook. I thought I was going overboard with the Prosoft Binder service, but 5 out of 8 in my group had them, so I was glad I did it. Not cheap, but it’s an exceptional presentation, and they’ve got great service.

I know multiple people who didn’t use interview prep service and got hired. Just use aviation interviews for the gouge and save your $$

If you do this, just make sure you’ve got your TMAAT stories down cold, and are well practiced in your “tell me about yourself” and “why United?” monologues.

Like someone above, I had a great experience with Cage Marshall for prep and with Prosoft Binders for my logbook. Would recommend both.

Cage Marshall seems to have the best service. I’m sure their consultants are plugged into United since they are local to Denver.

office depot print out and binding of your electronic logs should be $50 or less. Not sure what the hundreds of dollars is for when you pay the log services, but if you have concerns spend there too.

This.

I did ZERO prepping. Brought my logbooks as is. I told the two ladies that interviewed me, I didn’t use a prep service. Their response was “we can tell, in a good way.”

Do it if it makes you feel more confident, but it’s really not needed. Just my experience.

A lot of people, especially military haven’t interviewed in a very
long time. To go and wing it on this kind of career / opportunity …I wouldn’t do it. Most people want one of the big three and to waste a year because you didn’t prep seems silly to me. The good prep services don’t make an answer for you , they give you a thought process and point out what can be negative in your answer that you didn’t perceive. I would bet anything people that prep are more likely to get a job over someone that didn’t. Just doing the prep shows you care and is already a positive

Not doing the prep may work out. however out of the 80-90 military applicants I know from the various squadrons I've flown with them in over the years the simple truth is those that didn't do the prep (which was a small number) ended up either not receiving a offer from a Major airline and ended up staying in the military, or adding 6-9 months of additional wait time due to failed interviews / apps not trigging interviews. Most people do not possess enough self-reflection ability to identify if they need interview prep, and honestly, I've wasted far more money on far more questionable endeavors. Adding additional security that you will get both interviewed and pass said interview at a higher rate of success is a simpleton's choice and those choosing not to are not really worth the time helping anyhow.

Interview coming up as well. Heard the briefing items provided in the study guide should be briefed in the order provided on the interview study guide. Would 'in order' be read left to right in rows or top to bottom in columns? The briefing sequence isn't exactly logical.

Top to Bottom in Columns

The briefing items follow a logical order of flight for the most part (Top to bottom in columns as previously mentioned). It helped me to think about it “big picture” in addition to the rote memory. Just a thought.

Is it a bad look to email and request to push back your interview? Crammed up with OE and logbook work, want to make sure I can get appropriately prepped

Not at all, I know in the email it said that accommodations around moving the interview date may not be available but a couple people in my class had to do it. If you have the time to still do it on your assigned date i would recommend it though, every missed class is 50 seniority numbers under you. Good Luck!

I unfortunately got the TBNT and it said I'm eligible after 1 year... Any advice what to do other than keep building hours?

Apply & get hired at an U/LCC or another legacy. If you are looking at United because you live or want to live in one of its domiciles, being at a competitor is probably the most advantageous data point on application.

Where’d you go wrong in your interview? Usually people can get a feel based on what’s being asked/said to them. Give that feedback to your interview prep company and work on correcting the deficiencies. Sometimes it’s the tech, sometimes it’s the admin, sometimes it’s coming off as arrogant, but prep companies can help iron those with an applicant

Like was said before, otherwise Go work for a competitor where you want to live, or upgrade to Captain where you are.

I had prepped with current United pilots who recently got hired and we ironed out the "why united" and the "tell me about yourself" but the tmaat time is what mostly killed me. I am at a ULCC and just am disappointed I will have to wait a whole year to be eligible again. Possibly lost 2000 on the seniority list :(

D0zingfordollar 07-22-2023 11:55 AM

Hey guys, is it recommended to update your app Flight Time prior to interview? Currently shows that only personal details and flight time can be edited. I consolidated some Cherokee & Archer flying into simply P28A on my e-log so wanna make sure everything is clear. TIA!

I would update the online app to match the addendum to match your logbook. Those final numbers should all be the same.

I’m sorry to hear that.

I think the TMAAT questions are where consulting services can be so valuable. They don’t give you canned responses, but they do tell you exactly how to format your stories. They also give you the tools you need to formulate your best stories & share them in a way that highlights your strengths and gives the interviewers the answers they’re looking for.

Keep your head up and reapply as soon as you’re able.
