So, having said all that, would you say it is better to start off NB in SFO, then bid up 787 elsewhere (ORD/DCA) whenever your seniority creeps up?
Not a big fan of flying at night anymore to be honest, hence the reason I decided to try the majors, not either of the cargo boys.

The category is not what it used to be. Years ago, when I was a copilot on it there, I did gentlemanly 2-day BOS on the Pratts and went to Maui every month.. those days are over. When the categories in LAX and SFO started to crumble, we got a lot of PDRs and complaints, but such is life.

Just understand what they categories look like today and the amount of awful domestic flying you will do. Just my .02

Always bid NB first. You can always bid up. But if you start WB, you can’t bid down for 2 years….

Its much easier to fly during the day on a NB. It'll be unavoidable on a WB.

If you don’t want to fly at night SFO 756 ain’t for you. While it varies month to month I’d say at least 1/3 of the flying starts with a redeye and that’s a conservative estimate. With that said it’s a comfortable airplane, it doesn’t go anywhere ****ty out of SFO (at least IMHO) and most of the flying is 1 leg to the hotel (said hotel is in BOS, MCO or a hub 99% of the time). There are 2 leg days. Very rarely 3 leg days (haven’t seen any of those in at least a year). Mostly 757-200 and 757-300 flying. We do have some 767-300 flying between the hubs this month. None next month. Don’t plan on any 767-400 flying after IOE. Occasionally a trip may drop in for an airplane coming out of HKG maintenance or if HNL to the east coast has to flag stop due to somebody getting sick en route.

is UA planning to keep the 757/767 fleet around for awhile or are there plans to phase it out?

is bidding it when living in the east a feasible option?

What is upgrade time currently on that airframe?

probably until 2030ish?

you can bid into it in Newark probably pretty quick.Id have to look up IAD to see where that falls.

upgrade is a while. If you want to be a captain, focus on 737/320.

Stated 2030 or so. Could slide forward or back depending on NEO/XLR/MAX/787 deliveries and the economy.

It is absolutely amazing to me that Boeing can’t pull their head out of their butt and build an upgraded version of the 757. Meanwhile Airbus can’t build 321’s fast enough.

there isn’t a engine out there are can be hung on a MOM aircraft and make it competitive in the near term…..

Boeing missed the boat back in 2014…..
