The Contract defines what days are holidays. Halloween is listed.

definitions section 2-GG Holiday. Halloween is not a holiday

Who cares what the company calls a holiday? We care about what days we get the add pay on.

3-D-8 Holiday Pay

3-D-8-a Full-Day Holidays. A Pilot who operates (including deadhead) a Trip that actually
touches New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving Day and
Christmas Day shall be paid five hours and fifteen minutes (5:15) of Add Pay for each such
holiday.

FYI this doesn't include the language for NYE and Xmas eve.

I was surprised they pay extra for Halloween but not Memorial Day. On a related note, who’d rather have the pay and who’d rather have the day off?

I might take the pay on New Year’s Day, especially for an afternoon trip. Maybe Labor Day too. Christmas and Thanksgiving aren’t worth working for the extra pay for me.

I think most would rather have the day off, hence the whole paying extra just to show up to work. That's a good question though about Memorial Day as it arguably has more significance to the American people. I do however think there are probably way more pilots who want to be apart of their family's, mostly their kids, trick-or-treating experiences rather than reflect on the sacrifices service men and women have gone through to be where we are as a country. I think that way more pilots are going to call out sick for Halloween than memorial day which leads to the extra pay.

Because reflection must be done at home?

Does the Holiday pay show up in the MPG or Additional Pay?

this has nothing to do with reflection. It’s all about historical sick call statistics and when people call out. Memorial Day doesn’t seem to be it.
