They’re hiring!

Tell me you're new to pattern bargaining without telling me you're new to pattern bargaining.

It is. It’s almost a given that the 737 max is going to pay 321neo rates at Delta. For some reason, United wrapped the max pay in with the next gen pay. You guys did a pretty poor job of negotiations. The one thing you did do right is take advantage of Delta’s snap-up. Not to be outdone, American was just as bad.

United has grouped the NB by size/capability.

Small NB =A319/320, 737-700/-800/Max8

Medium NB = 737-900/Max9/Max10

Large NB = A321NEO/XLR, 757-200/300

A pretty realistic grouping with some quibbling about the max 10 (if it ever shows up). But hard to justify a Max 8 paying the same as a 321Neo if going by the traditional decision 83 criteria. Something that we had really gotten away from. Still not ideal, but better then what it was.

And negotiations are all about tradeoffs. A tradeoff in one section for more in another. Bringing up the small NB pay to within a $1.50 of the medium NB rates is a win

So, honest question, did you always think you were better than other pilots, or was it the years flying with other like-minded people that gave you the sense of superiority?

Thanks for the laugh. Isnt that sad we even had to put that in our contract? Thats what SWA thinks about pilots.
