MIA/FLL crew base?

Anyone hear this rumor? Thoughts on when it would open, what airframe and how it might impact MCO/TPA seniority?

I’ve heard all sorts of rumors. Don’t bother starting this one. None of us schlubs know the plan or if/when any new bases will open. Especially not another new Florida base so soon after MCO.

I've heard the 777 MCO rumor more than this one. This one being this is the first time I've heard it.

Probably after UAL buys NK

Right. I'm just awaiting the announcement...

I've heard it several times from several people. Also see that the ground teams at both places have transitioned away from the contract option to actual United employees. Could be nothing or could be something.

UALPA negotiated away leverage (allowing forced NH upgrades) that would force the company to open new bases in order to staff aircraft, particularly 737 CA. Until UAL gets to the point where they don't have the ability to park planes in existing bases, it probably won't happen. Given that both Boeing and Airbus have significant delays, it could be in 3-5 years, if ever. If you definitely want MIA/FLL, go to American.

Let me answer your question with a question, where did you hear this rumor?

Exactly this. I certainly wouldn't put any 🇮🇳 rupees on it. The satellite bases, I thought were a way to assuage the decline in QOL for 737 upgrades by offering a close to home domicile. With the forced upgrades now there is zero incentive for them to open more satellites.

We'rent the outstation bases introduced to help captain staffing? With forced upgrades I doubt we'll see new ones.

Both sides had their lines in the sand. We weren't going to relax scope for example at any price, while they weren't going to sign any agreement that didn't enable them to ensure that captain vacancies would be filled at a what they considered an acceptable cost. With the Max10 delayed even further, I don't know that an abundance of captain vacancies will be that much of an issue until either the Max 10 is certified or we can magic up a bunch of 321 NEO's for immediate delivery.
