That's kinda harsh. Seven flights?!?!?

Welcome to probation. My understanding is that even if they let you use the commuter clause, you get 3-5 failure to get in position before they terminate you under the reliability policy due to commuting.

This is not going to end well for you if you keep up this thought process.

I mean, if you’re missing that many flights on probation the number likely won’t go down when you’re off probation. Can’t blame em for not wanting someone who can’t find a way to get to work.

Sounds like this was the SFO CPO...... They were putting out threats like this during the virtual base visits for new hires a few years ago.... Luckily, I didn't touch SFO at all even though that was my initial award as a new hire...

My first thought, too. The worst CP by a wide margin, in my opinion. For multiple reasons.

That wasn't mentioned in the SWA vs ual brochure?

Welcome to United. If you can't be on time, don't be new.

There are plenty of people who have gone decades without missing a trip by commuting in days early and hanging out at their crash pad/hotel/mothers sisters brothers girlfriends house any time loads, or weather in base looked bad etc. You won't find much sympathy for missing a trip, especially when you're on probation.

EWR. Apparently ORD has a similar stance.

Hard to believe it was the old EWR CP. I’ve heard nothing, but good things about him.

That said, that many missed trips will get you noticed. I’ve paid for hotels and even bought a confirmed seat to get to work. I rather pay $100 a ticket than to lose out on millions over the course of my career. Unfortunately, all this is part of the game if you’re a commuter

Probably so but he (and the CPO minions) also represented the company's perspective and this was the same year that they sent out the EWR base email lecturing commuters about missed trips, planning better etc.

My buddy had 7 backup flights and it wasn't enough and in that environment he didn't get sympathy. He didn't miss anymore trips on probation after that though.
