Kirk Limacher gone to Tech Ops

I see Kirk Limacher has now gone to Tech Ops as SVP of planning & strategy. He started as VP HR services before his stint as VP in Flt Ops, now he has gone to the technical side as an SVP. Seems like experience in that particular field is not important anymore at UAL to be a VP

Seems like "Planning & Strategy" are keywords in upper lever corporate circles. Kirk must have convinced Ankit Gupta with these words, he went from VP HR services to VP Flt Ops, VP Flt Ops planning to SVP Tech Ops Planning & Strategy. Two to three years in each position

Supposedly their “plan” involves hiring MORE mechanics and spending MORE money on maintenance….I’ll take it.

I can only imagine the complexity involved in the maintenance of a growing fleet of 1,000+ mainline and oversight of 400+ regional airliners. I'd say planning and strategy aren't just words in this case.

I am also hoping they don't fill the position he left. Time to get back to pilots managing pilots. With more normalized aircraft deliveries the reason I heard he was in that position no longer exists.

Apparently, the company has said they have no problems hiring technicians and don't need the older, experienced guys to stick around, The "learning cycle" has started again, Remember the yellow logbooks from old sCO days...full of MEL's.
