Frontier competes with United to the extent that Denny's competes with Cheesecake Factory.

Wait, the Cheesecake Factory is supposed to be some sort of elevated dining experience? I think it's pretty trashy.

A better comparison would be Denny's to the Capitol Grille.

These are some terrible analogies.

Ok, Jack in the Box compared to Smash Burger ???

horrible analogies.

Frontier customer is searching for a cost effective solution to a problem. Unlikely will spend extra or needs anything beyond the solution (Point A to Point B transport). MCO to LAS for leisure.

Delta/United customer is searching for the same thing but indeed will spend extra if deemed justified in their eyes or beneficial for longer distance future planning (MCO to LAS and use FF points for family vacation plans later in year, etc). MCO to LAS, extensive family luggage, needs reliability of numerous flights a day. Spending extra on Delta ticket = discounted rental car bundle. Etc. Or different solution needed, aka MCO to Tokyo

United is a BMW 3 Series and Frontier is a Chevy Spark.

United is like the Macaroni Grill that has pivoted to also offer half-price takeout and family style to-go meals thus leveraging its higher end kitchen and ingredients to take customers away from Applebees while not sacrificing margin with its core customer.

What’s really important to remember in this equation is that we (as well as our ALPA colleagues at Frontier) are the cooks in the kitchen.

Who cares what one CEO says to another and what kind of cars the patrons drive to our restaurants.

First time I’ve ever heard “higher end” and Macaroni Grill in the same sentence.
