82nd 787 arrives

Now that the new seats/configuration got approved number 82 has been delivered. 83 and 84 seem ready as they have both had several test flights. looks like it will be late this year that the 787 fleet becomes the largest widebody fleet passing the 777 (96 airframes). Of course if PW can't get their act together on the 777 motors it may be sooner than that.

IIRC PW has washed their hands of the 777 motors. They’re done supporting them.

Wondering what the increase in J and W did to empty weight of this bird.

I heard it straight from one of the Chief Pilots. The company and the FAA are working on a workaround to extend one of the bearings another 2,500 cycles, but that’s a big if.

With oil approaching 120 it doesn't matter how fuel efficient the 787 is.
