Default How much does UAL MGMT think you're worth?

Do you think management is going to pay us what were worth? Not without a fight. I hope your ready. I am. I know this story is about Continental, but since Smisek is pulling the strings, I imagine more of this to come. Red bold is mine.

IAM Files for Mediation in Continental Flight Attendant Talks
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) today announced it has filed for federal mediation in its year-long negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement for 9,500 Flight Attendants at Continental Airlines, a subsidiary of United Continental Holdings, Inc.
“Requesting the help of a federal mediator is the next logical step in the bargaining process.”
On October 27, 2010, Continental Flight Attendants rejected a tentative interim agreement that provided wage increases and job guarantees through Continental’s merger and integration with United Airlines. Negotiations began in December 2010, before Continental’s merger with United was announced.
“Continental is unwilling to restore all the sacrifices Flight Attendants made to help the carrier avoid bankruptcy and merge with United,” said Sheila Hammond, a Continental Flight Attendant and IAM negotiating committee member. “Requesting the help of a federal mediator is the next logical step in the bargaining process.”
The request for mediation was made on November 18, 2010 to the National Mediation Board (NMB), the federal agency that oversees collective bargaining in the airline industry under the Railway Labor Act. The NMB assigned Senior Mediator Pat Sims to the negotiations. Negotiations have been scheduled to resume on December 8, 2010. The assignment of a mediator does not preclude direct negotiations from continuing between the parties without the mediator.
The IAM is the largest airline union in North America. More information about the IAM at Continental Airlines is available at www.go142.org.

Unless everyone is will to strike for C2000 plus inflation and wave buh bye to the RJ's and Aer Lingus type JV'S, please keep the negotiations off public/ALPA forums. Bless you.

Why do you state what everyone should negotiate for and then say not to negotiate in public?

Because C2000 would be in the range of a 70- 80 % payraise. That my son is not negotiating. When someone says gee, I'm happy with 10 % or the company can't afford a raise, that is on the other end of the spectrum and called fear. Company negotiators seek fear or split ranks.

It really ticks me off that management feels the need to treat us like two year olds every time our contracts come due. It's high time we stopped this long drawn out "mediation" BS and started getting things done NOW. If CEO's feel they should be compensated out the ass, then so should we. Afterall, I sure don't see them working nights, weekends, holidays, and redeyes......................and I can bet with certainty they sure as hell don't miss any important family events either..............
