Default United/CAL pass travel survey opens today

The new United/CAL pass travel survey opens today ("Flying Together" website). "SA1" was notably absent from the travel class definitions. Not sure how most UAL guys feel about their pass travel system, but ours truly sucks. SA1's are given to mid-level managers (anyone in charge of anything larger than a broom closet) in lieu of salary. Flight crews; SA3. DOH doesn't carry a lot of weight for boarding. Any gouge from the UAL side?

the only thing worth a **** on that survey is the free text portion at the end. i pulled no punches on what i think of the current system and their questions simply designed to lead us to lousy pass travel. tell them what you think.

Looks like it was addressed in one of the questions asking if "you" would support allowing managers to board at a higher priority and without regard to DOH. For pleasure travel, that policy would a fantastic tool to pit labor against management. Flying together......riiiiight.

It's already the status quo at CAL. And the definition of "managers" is stretched to include secretaries, dispatchers, caterers, etc. Anyone who would take an improved travel status in lieu of a pay increase. I'm hopeful, but not necessarily optimistic, that this is our chance to finally rid ourselves of "SA1's".

Top Picks:

1. Death of the SA-1 program unless it includes real managers like Pilots.
2. 2 PS passes per year per eligible family member.
3. Reduce Buddy Pass charges by 95% and travel unaccompanied.
4. Retirees below all active employees.
5. Express Employee's behind all active and retired employees.

they kept asking for the same thing in different words. If managers are travelling on "Bonifide Business" then they should write themselve's BP-3's or BP-6's (Boarding Priority 1 thru 10) If Not? Then they travel BY Seniority PERIOD!! All of this Management to the front of the Bus stuff is Pure bogus! I've got 27 Years and I intend to ENJOY what 27 years of seniority affords me in Boarding Priority, If a Pilot is traveling in Uniform I've got NO prblems with him gotting TO or Getting HOME from work ahead of me. But! Take the uniform OFF? and managers Pilots (who By the BY ARE "Managers" in case that point isn't made clear enough) ,and every OTHER "Turkey" in this Company here is on STRAIGHT seniority! And I'm In a Managment Job ! So THERE!!! I Never heard of such foolishness! I can't understand why this is even an ISSUE!! If they want MY seniority to be Bypassed? Then Let them TRY and BUY it!! Everybody has a "price" and I've got Mine! Now it's up to these "Coneheads" to Meet My PRICE! And Chelsea?? Why haven't we SOLD them Already?? They're busy selling every damn thing ELSE around here!! If it's Not United or Continental?? Sell their Butts "down the River"!! And AFTER they sell them? Buy some PARTS!!

Agree with you on most here, except who cares if a pilot is in uniform going to or from work, it should go by seniority period. Why should someone who chooses to commute go ahead of someone else.

I still Believe it accords our pilots some "respect". And? Passengers Like to see Pilots in Uniform going to work as strange as that might seem. It shows they have confidence in the other pilots and if You can trust them? Then they can as well. Might not be evident to you, But I've traveled for Years and Passengers seem to get "warm and fuzzy" about it. And whatever they like?? I'm for that as well. It's funny that People expect Captains to have Gray hair at the temples.. Why? I have No Idea. But people seem alarmed at Captains who are YOUNG looking. I've traveled on Company business many times and seen that if a passenger finds out I'm in maintenence they want to know all about the airplane they're on. I sure don't advertise it because I try and get a Nap whenever I fly and I don't like being disturbed. But should they see a Pilot in a Passenger's seat sleeping? they think that's the best thing since ICE Cream!! Go Figure!
