Did I read that right? What do we do to "our" fellow union members flying these POS RJs? You mean the ones who gladly and eagerly taped "Guppy Killer" stickers on their Flt bags? Easy answer would be to restore the kid's career path to the majors by breaking the glass ceiling ALPA created by standing in the shadows when our jobs were outsourced to these kids. By ending them flying our routes and us taking them back we open up pilot slots here that need to be filled, DUH! Time to restore the career path for the inexperienced kids out there and end the BS of them flying OUR routes! Win-win. Would you rather THEY fly our routes vice being laid off (NOBODY AT UAL KNOWS WHAT THAT'S LIKE) and interviewing for their dream job in the big league. Stop lobotomizing this with ignorant Bs, k?

Yes, you read that right. These are our fellow union members. And here we are gleefully plotting the demise of their careers. We get righteous about protecting the furloughs who are gone through no fault of our own but can't wait to shove Express pilots out the door. What is the difference? Both were selected by the company, not us . Pure chance as to which silo they ended up in.
Just because some had guppy killer stickers doesn't mean you can condemn the whole group or even that we can deny our obligation as union members. Like it or not that what we signed up for as trade unionists. Otherwise, we are no better than management and we should just throw away the contract and it's everyman for himself.

I agree the best thing is to do some kind of flow through.

Oh and by the way, they are not "kids", OK? Many are 40 year old long time professionals. And even the 20 year olds are people I trust with my life. They are fellow ALPA members and professional pilots

If we don't like considering them as equals then perhaps we should leave ALPA altogether. Which, I think, would be a legitimate debate.

Hey thanks for sticking up for us World. Its nice to know that not all the mainline guys view us as the enemy, which we are not. Whoever put those guppy killer stickers on their bag should be taken out back and beaten with a hose. What a bunch of idiots. I fly for the regionals, so I hear first hand what people are saying about scope. Believe me when I say, we are on your side. We want you to fight for scope and stand up to management. We want there to be a future in this career and have it be rewarding. We are putting our trust in you to do that for us and yourselves since you guys are in the position to do so. So for the future of OUR (your's and mine) careers, please stand up to management and do not give in on scope.

1. I don't want to see anybody get furlouged
2. I want all of us to have a good quality of life
3. I don't want to be a lifer at a regional
4. I want to be paid a decent and fair wage for my job, now and in the future
5. I want to have an enjoyable and rewarding career, not a miserable one

So please mainline guys, fight for scope!

As a 39-year old "kid"...stuck at a regional (for now),
PLEASE FIGHT FOR SCOPE!

Limit the company's ability to outsource and shrink the regionals, if you don't our future as ALPA pilots are doomed.

The regional outsourcing is:
-bad for pilot careers
-a safety and comfort issue for customers
-great only for management's pockets

Actually, if you're referring to all United connection pilots then you are incorrect. All of those E170/175's flying around are RAH/Shuttle America who are IBT members, and a lot of those CRJ-200's & CRJ-700's are Skywest pilots who are non union. So a lot of those pilots are NOT your fellow union brothers, & have NO problem taking ALPA jobs for less pay.

And ALPA keeps telling me of the opportunities to work for Skywest since I am currently furloughed.

I refuse to outsource myself. It's insulting.

Since I was hired at UAL in 99, I have received 2 furlough notices, and about 14 job offers to go work for the outfit that took my job (Mesa, RAH, Skywest), all brought to you by ALPA (with our dues money).

They just seem determined to think my career should end up in the right seat of an RJ and I'm determined to find other representation as a result.
