New Flight Ops Leadership Announced
Flight Operations Leadership Announcement
To the United Flight Operations Team,
I am pleased to announce the following appointments to
leadership positions in the new United Flight Operations
organization:
Managing Director-Flight Operations: Captain Jim Starley
Managing Director-Training: Captain Keith Rimer
Managing Director-Flight Standards: Captain Dave Lynn
Managing Director-Technical and Flight Test: Captain Joe Burns
Managing Director-Crew Resources: Captain Chip Benton
System Chief Pilot CAL: Captain Steve Arnold
System Chief Pilot UAL: Captain Curt Hughes
It is important to note that we will have a separate System
Chief Pilot for each airline until we achieve a Single
Operating Certificate/Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement or
a future time to be determined. Additionally, we still need to
fill the Managing Director-Flight Operations Contract
Administration position, and that person will be named at a
later date.
I am gratified to know we have such a deep talent pool from
which to select our leadership team, but that made the
selection process that much more difficult and time consuming.
Thank you for your patience during this process, and I hope
you’ll join me in congratulating our new Flight Operations
leaders.
The talent selection process is continuing, and our new
leaders are in the process of completing the job postings
needed to build their teams. I encourage all qualified
candidates to review those postings on the Talent Selection
portal and apply for any positions of interest.

We all should be thankful that Steve Arnold was chosen for his position! CLE has always been known to have good people in the office there. Coincidental that the CALALPA chief pilot office surveys have always rated that office better than the other three by miles? No CAL pilot can honestly tell me that they think one of the other three would be better for that position.
