Informational Picketing Events
Anyone have any information on the results of these events?
|
Had a good turn out at ORD. We had a permit for 50 and over 200 showed up. After the local law enforcement asked us to "Thin the ranks", we went in shifts.
|
Denver was a smash hit also with more personnel than required to man three floors and all the doors on the UAL side.
|
Cle had a little over 30. Thanks to the Delta guys for showing support. And it was a.pleasure meeting the Ual guys. Looking forward to flying together. Unfortunately Cleveland on Tuesday is a bit quiet.
|
SFO had almost 150
|
Any photos? I Google, but didn't find any, and I can't log into ALPA anymore...
|
I'm sure there were zero XJT guys there. After how the CAL MEC effed us I would venture to say zero to little support from any of us.

Why would the CAL MEC support Xjt pilots? There job is to support Cal pilots. I guess its kinda like ALPA representing both mainline and regional pilots even as our jobs are stolen from us by the other. Makes a lot of sense. Okay, now back to the topic of info picketing. |

Sympathy? LOL! I just think it's funny how the CAL MEC basically stabs us in the back in regards to pass travel and jumpseating THEN they ask us to come out and carry signs for them... Signs that say "Stop outsourcing!" or "who's flying your plane?" lol.
|
Having been a long time commuter pilot, I understand your angst. Perhaps if you shift your focus a little further than the end of your nose you might have a different view. That is unless you'll be happy flying an RJ with minimal benefits and work rules for the rest of your career.

when did this get to be ALL ABOUT you?? since when DID THE CAL GUYS TAKE YOUR PASSES?? Man? This Be UNITED!! XJT is part of Skywest as I recall or am I missing something?? Weren't you just BOUGHT?? Why then do you believe United owes you anything?? Even the Pilots can't dictate pass benefits. That's a COMPANY derivied benefit that the COMPANY changes as they see FIT. Last I saw? You aren't COMPANY any more!! The jumpseat rules are company a well with the capt's discretion. You place much in BLAME and know very little in FACT. Unless somebody says I'm wrong and shows me up as such I think you're wrongly casting blame. Now as far as the 70 seaters go?? XJT never HAD 70 seaters so again you have no horse in this race. And tell me What's Wrong with the pilots trying to protect what they have?? Aren't YOU a pilot?? They're not doing it TO you! they're doing it FOR you as I can see it unless again I'm highly mistaken and one of these kind souls will correct me.. |

Yes, the pass travel was changed for XJT, but as has been mentioned. The CAL pilots, the CAL employees nor anyone other than management has anything to do with pass travel. If management wanted to do away with all employee travel and make everyone buy tickets, in theory they could. So XJT pilots need to stop laying the blame for pass travel at the feet of any CAL employee except management. 2. In regards to the jumpseat, I think a pilot knows how it works and it is not as simple as you made out. For the jumpseat, I can see an XJT pilot having a legitimate gripe against CAL ALPA. The CAL jumpseat committee requested a change to the priority of XJT pilots. From what I understand they are now lumped in with ALL OTHER OFFLINE pilots and not given any consideration for being a CAL/UNITED EXPRESS feeder pilot (i.e. CAL/UAL pilot first, CAL/UAX Express pilots next, then all other off line pilots). That I feel is a valid complaint. They should get some priority if they are feeding our system over say an American Airlines pilot instead of first-come, first-served status. Not sure why the change was requested, but never have heard one line pilot saying they wanted this change. |

CAL MEC pushed CAL(NOT YO-nited) to make it more difficult for us to commute, then they have the nerve to ask us to picket with them.. My problem is with that, The average line pilot at Cal has no idea that ever happened and I'm sure they disagree with how things were handled. Much less some United MX controller who probably has never had to use the j/s EVER. So clue yourself in before adding your measly 2 cents... |

Now I'm REALLY gonna pour some gas on the bomb: I believe that on Fee For Departure operations (NOT at risk flying done by the regionals) that the associated mainline pilots should have priority in the seats. After all, the mainline company has purchased those seats, whether they are empty or full. They are paying for the gas, and they are taking the inevitable operating loss at $100+ oil. I believe Delta has now done this with all their feeders except Skywest. As I mentioned, at risk flying done by the regionals definitely would need to be exempt from this agreement to be fair in my own eyes. Luckily for you, my opinion means absolutely nothing to anyone, so I'm sure nothing will be changing soon. Don't blame you for not wanting to carry the sign for a group of pilots who want to take back the flying that was given to you at their expense. I sure wouldn't go picket for XJET to get more/bigger airplanes. |
I think all flying should be done by mainline. I am 100% for Them to purchase us and merge the pilot groups as per ALPA's policy.

Well, he said ALPA merger policy, so I'm assuming he means Stapled at the bottom. That is the only way it wouldn't be a windfall for regional guys, considering right now the only way to fly mainline jets is to go get hired there and start at the bottom.... even if you are #1 on the list.

When are pilots going to realize "picketing" and especially "informational picketing" does nothing. In fact, I believe the public probably thinks its a bit of a joke.
Let's do something real and effective: Operationorange2011 on Wordpress or the new sight coming up OPERATION ORANGE 2011 | Protecting the Flying Public & Restoring the Piloting Profession. You've got to read a bunch of material to get a real understanding. Then, post your thoughts at "Operation Orange 2011" on FACEBOOK. Maybe you've got some ideas better than just picketing. This will work if 20% of the pilot force gets on board. Come on... we are becoming a LAUGHING-STOCK to the public ("thanks for working for peanuts so we can fly SFO-JFK for almost nothing") but especially MANAGEMENT (thanks for continuing to fly kids...we love our homes in Aspen and Monaco")! |
