Anyone have any independent confirmation to the rumor floating around that Mr. Smizack has been terminated?

There's the quarterly conference call next week. Someone's gotta ask,

"Jeff, Southwest Airlines merged with Airtran on May 2nd and their pilots already have an integrated seniority list--and those were even different unions. What's the holdup with the contract and list at UAL and CAL after 18 months--with the same union?"

EWRflyr 07-17-2011 04:53 AM

I heard a rumor that in the new United the Department of Rumor Development is being eliminated. Seems the employees are becoming so cynical they no longer believe these rumored announcements.

I still say that at that Business Traveler's Meeting in Denver when we picket we should go with my idea of having signs that say:

"UAL-CAL Pilots Support Garry Kelly for United CEO!"

I bet there will but NOT to defend Jeffy, the SWA/AT joint contract is probably just the SW contract, ie zero or very little to negotiate, unlike UAL vs CAL with all the good and bad on either side. Not the same thing.

You and I know this and many other excruciating details. Investors could care less. They open the paper and see SWA has already solved their "pilot issue" whereas UAL has pics in paper of pilots plastering management doors with "NO" on the contract proposal. "Hey Jeff, what's up with that?"

Egggsactly... executives don't get fired, they leave to spend more time with their families... ....with of course a severance package that will water your eyes.

On the airliners.net website, there is a post on the thread about this same thing from all people, Julie King. She is the head of corporate communication for the new UAL. Her quote,

Does make you wonder how much many of the forums out there she or her underlings read on a daily basis. I guess we possibly will know tomorrow. I can't imagine that something this big would go by the wayside and this little peep is all anyone hears, especially since this has the ability to impact the company, it stock, and it's employees. If he leaves, who will step in? GT?

Good point, hadn't thought of it that way.

It speaks volumes that, the day the rumor appeared, was the happiest day for many employees. Conversely, when the rumor was squelched, it was a huge let down for those same employees! Illustrates the high regard in which J-Lo is held!
