CAL system bid snap shot #1 7/19
 

For those United pilots who are interested, the following BES (Base/Equipment/Seat or Status) show vacancies after the preliminary snapshot. The first number is the number of CAL pilots bidding for the BES and the second number represents the total number of positions available in the BES per the system bid:

GUM 737 FO 57 out of 64
IAH 737 FO 537 out of 634
NYC 737 FO 264 out of 303
NYC 756 FO 450 out of 486

According to this, that leaves 179 vacancies to be filled.

As a reminder, the snapshot is preliminary only and will change before the final bid results are published. This is the first of two snapshots for this system bid with the next snapshot being the beginning of next week. While the second snapshot is pretty close to the final result (since it comes out the night before the bid close), some pilots have changed their bids at the last minute.

I thought EWR was the junior base on the 737. Does that snapshot mean there are 264 people bidding into it? Can there be that many people swapping bases or is it people bidding off the 757 for better seniority?

Does the snapshot take into account the vacancy generated when someone bids off an airplane? (maybe that is a dumb question??)

Just subtract the first number from the second number. That's the amount of openings available for UAL Pilots in each sub-category. The first number represents Pilots already staffed on the equipment plus those bidding onto it leaving the difference as open positions for UAL recalls.

Not too many guys changing positions but these numbers don't break it down between existing and transferring.

When CAL trains you on the 737, do you get a PIC type rating? Thanks

At CAL, your type rating received at the conclusion on training will read B737, Limitation: Circ. Apch - VMC ONLY

Both CA's and FO's Type Rating will read the same as above.....So yes, since the CA's reads as such, it will be exercised as a "PIC Type" if that's what your asking.

At CAL, all FO's are "typed" on respective equipment.
