UAL/CAL MEC leadership missing
It's time for our MEC leaders to step-up and lead. What will it take for the combined pilot groups to demand that from them?

Upon recall from my last furlough there was a push for an in-house union (2007). Those pilots leading the charge were vilified and ostracized. Admittedly, I thought their actions were misguided. If/when I go back to UCAL, I will be listening VERY closely to any drives for an in-house union of the combined carriers. I truly believe now is the time. |
I agree. We need to bankrupt alpa and reorganize the way we do things bc what is presently going on isnt working ( An i ai t working at united either)
Something has got to give for labor is always at a disadvantage. |
I'm not advocating we dump ALPA!
What I am advocating is we get our current leaders to step up to the plate. Time and time again we've given direction and they have failed to act. If it's time to go to jail, let one of them go jail - we'll get him out and press back harder. If a head gets cracked, we'll get it fixed and send back two guys and press back harder. We have to be willing to fight. I'm tired of running away and tired of losing. We lost the advantage to current management by failing to fight back. Write your LEC reps and your MEC chairs and let them know they have had direction for some time and It's time to act. |
I don't mean to do the wet noodle thing but....
an independent union or ALPA certainly would invite boatloads of debate as to advantages versus disadvantages. But, if you don't like the leadership now, you won't like it at some future date as an independent because it will be the same pilots. Absent a great deal of hiring/retiring turnover, the same pilots in the same pilot group will rise to the top in either case, independent or national. You guys are speculating a "grass is greener" vision. 'Won't change a thing as far as leadership. |

Really? Give me one metric that tells our union leadership or management we're ready for a fight. As far as management is concerned, all is well.
Will he be able to sell this shammed perception in his final road-show of 2011 at IAD?? |
