So, things are looking up for the Pres. I guess it depends on what channel you watch.

Lots of banter about whether or not we'll be allowed to strike and there are cogent arguments supporting both sides. Who can say? What's important is that the company thinks we are willing and determined to walk and have the cash necessary to do so. So, I'll play along. The cash is the bank and I'm EAGER to get the chance to walk. I am tired of yellow rain and our pathetic contract.

A whole mess of widebodies parked on ramps around the world would really send a message to the banks. And since they're the ones el hefe ultimately listens too it might just give him a shove.

You mean you actually think/believe those unemployment numbers are accurate or reflect reality. Just look at who defines unemployment... Enough said. I am not counted in those numbers and I have not had a paycheck since October 2008. What a JOKE!!! If you believe the numbers any government entity puts out, I have some products I'd like to sell you!!! Oh, and by the way rainy day fund is still holding up!

Quantity vs Quality

True statement about Government statistics. They only report jobless claims; nothing said about how good the resulting jobs are. Hypothetical example:

"Good evening; Headline News. Global TransAir shutdown last month, leaving 500 pilots in the Tri-County area without jobs."

"McDonald's Corporation reports strong growth and the addition of 1000 sales-person jobs in Tri-County."

"Tri-County Department of Labor reports jobless claims and total unemployment are down......":(
