When I was hired at UA (Aug/07 interview, Oct/07 class) There were a few World and ATA guy's and a JB, 2 military, and everybody else were RJ LCA's with thousands of hours PIC turbine. Again those stated times are the minimum, to be competitive one needs to have much more.
The only people I ran into at UA that were hired with "low time" were a couple of (737 Capt's) guy's that did the precursor to the internship (working in industry) and another that was an Mechanical Engineer, that was hired a UA as an Engineer in SFO, and when he got 300 hours PIC, got an interview (and was hired) as a SO on the 727.

I'm sure this legal discussion is a bit too esoteric for you but to boil it down there is a legal hole in this coveted TPA a mile wide. The biggest threat to you in this regard deals with time. The longer there is not a JCBA the more dire the consequences are to you. You should contact your rep and demand a JCBA agreement now. Good luck with that.

The following are the minimum qualifications to apply for a pilot position:
1,500 hours fixed-wing total flight time
1,000 hours fixed-wing PIC time, or 500 hours PIC time and 500 hours SIC time in a turbojet
1,000 hours fixed-wing turbine time
1,000 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time (civilian or military) or 1,000 hours single-engine military fighter jet time
Successfull completion of the ATP written exam
A current first class FAA medical
A Bachelor's degree is highly desired
Except for a few intern-types, no one was walking in with less than 5000 and 121/Mil/turbine PIC time.

Here ya go....All L-UAL furloughees will be given DOH on the ISL.
See how easy it is to state an assinine, baseless "fact". This statement is no more or less senseless than your's.

I have 17 days off and 80.5 hours of pay next month. Compared my schedule with a 320 FO on a recent commute. I get 5 more days off, and no 42 hour layovers in the sticks.
Maybe thats what a UAL furloughee remembers about the job, and why they assume that lowly CAL will be worse ?

Now there is a senseless statement.

I don't want to put words in the guy's mouth...but I think he was referring to life on reserve as a new hire at CAL. You gotta admit, the QOL is quite bad...or maybe its been a while since you've had to live that life. Aside from the crummy first year pay, my QOL on Reserve at UAL was pretty good. I knew when I was gonna be home and the airline was pretty well staffed so that the crew desk wasn't calling 10 times a day with fires to put out.
I know line holders at CAL that are quite content with their QOL...more power to them.
