UCH CFO jumps ship

Zane Rowe, off to be an iPad salesman at Apple. I remember what happened last time execs started jumping ship......

United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL) said its Chief Financial Officer Zane Rowe is leaving the airline for a nonfinancial post at technology giant Apple Inc. (APPL).
The world's largest airline, which was formed in the 2010 merger of UAL Corp. and Continental Airlines Inc., named United financial planning and analysis executive John Rainey as his successor. Rainey previously had served in that role at Continental from 2005 to 2010. He joined Continental in 1997.
Before becoming United's financial chief, Rowe had been Continental's CFO from 2008 to 2010 and also was responsible for its technology department, according to United's website. He joined Continental in 1993 and held various positions in the carrier's finance and marketing departments.
United Continental in January posted a narrower fourth-quarter loss on stronger revenue and lighter integration costs to combine its two airlines. The company last month said it plans to trim its capacity for 2012 amid continued fuel-cost pressures.

United Continental CFO Rowe Leaves For Apple; Rainey Named As Successor - WSJ.com

The "funny" here is he was also in charge of the IT department? Now he's going to work for Apple? Obviously they have no idea about our little Ipad faxpaus I guess he was in charge of.

I'm going to short the Apple stock anyway!

Can't wait to see the "retirement" package he's entitled to for walking out the door. All I see is more ammo for why we have no JCBA.

That's not correct.

Bob Edwards is SVP and Chief Information Officer. Promoted after the original "old" UAL individual resignation about a year ago.

The IT group had absolutely nothing to do with the capability and procedural planning on IPAD issues. That is highly unusual given the size of the budgetary item. Individuals within the department "wished" that they had been part of the planning process. The "unsmooth" nature of implementation and time will tell if that will ultimately be unfortunate.

Zane Roe held Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the "new" UAL from the outset and the relative position at "old" CAL for many years. John Rainey worked directly for Zane Roe as a SVP. Both have zero to do with IT issues except those germane to finance.
