This is the reason so many offline guys including myself love to jumpseat on UAL metal. Your pilot group gets it. For the most part the FA's at UAL have been fantastic as well. Just the other month the purser on LAX-SYD was at the gate communicating with the agent to try and get as many of us non revs on as possible due to weight restrictions. This is one of many examples UAL crews have gone out of their way to help get a jumpseater/non-rev on. It will be a sad day in the jumpseat world if the CAL mentality takes over.

I'm sure this could be easily fixed if there were ANY sort of concern for us peons at the higher levels.....
Another Jeff-ed up thing to add to the list.

Completely false. SHARES will spit out seat, it's up to the agent to "change" the seat. Now if you happen to have a sUAL agent, they may or may not know how to change a seat assignment.

I won't call BS on your CAL comments as our J/S clearing system absolutely sucks but I do make the walk on every flight and make sure Jumpseaters are accommodated. We don't leave until they are comfortably onboard, period.

As for First Class, if there is an open seat, you will be in it on my flights. Always have operated that way and only once been challenged by a FA. The FA and I had a private little chat in the cockpit and viola', Captain-1, F/A-0.

As a side note the FOM was recently changed to match the UAL version so its completely legit for our Milquetoast Captains to now place Jumpseaters up front if they dare.
