Default Furloughed LUAL guys....

I flew a 4 day this week with a guy who is on a team putting together the new hire program at TK.

When I queried him as to when we were going to start hiring on the UAL side he said this fall was a firm date. I then of course asked when we were going to start recalling UAL guys to which he replied that "they've all been called"!

I mentioned to him that his information was UNTRUE and incorrect that not ONE single UAL guy has had a recall notice PERIOD END OF STORY! However the management mantra at LUAL is that everyone has been called and are considering the BS preferential hiring deal at LCAL to be a recall!!!!

This is simply flat ashed wrong as you all know. I also spoke to a 777 Capt who claimed that he spoke to a UAl furloughee who was just finishing recall IOE at LUAL on the A-320. Which I am 100% sure is incorrect.

Two questions here.

1. Have any of you received a recall notice? I spoke to the # 12 most senior voluntary furloughee today and he assured me that he has not even had the slightest hint of a LUAL recall.

2. Do any of you know what the actual plan is for this whole mess? Are they going to recall or are they going to try to simply re-assimilate you guys when the ISL comes down?

So of course the new hire program is going to be into the LCAL side? How's that going to work with everything that is going on right now. (Rhetorical question of course.)

Default Unreal

How could someone who is "putting together the new hire program at TK" be so f'ing ignorant? It amazes me how stupid and uninformed people are.

I can lurk no more. This gripes my arse.

I took a voluntary furlough back in 08 (7/99 hire) and haven't heard a word from the UAL side. I did get a call from CAL back when they first started the hiring over there. Our furlough agreement with UAL is completely separate from the CAL job offer.

How can I be "recalled" to an airline that I never worked at? This is a cut and dry case. We have a Furlough LOA with UAL that gives us 10 year recall rights to UAL. A job offer at CAL doesn't constitute a recall to UAL.

CAL might hire in the near future but when the JCBA is signed (whenever that happens) expect to see a bunch of furloughed pilots accept a recall.

The UAL ca that just talked to a returning furloughed pilot on the A320 is just as dumb as the ca you just flew a 4 day trip with. Maybe he is senile and the conversation happened back in 2006!

Hoss,

This guy sounds like a real tool. Anyway, there have been rumors about possible recalls beginning as soon as the fall, but that's all they are....rumors. Without knowing the block hours and fleet plan, I doubt anyone can say how quickly a recall will occur despite the pending retirements this year.

One thought, however, is that anyone that does go back to UAL on a recall is going back to a very different airline regarding FOM, OPs Specs, Flt Manuals, and so on which resulted from the merger. So, in a way, it would be akin to "new hire" type of training. Indoc, etc., to become familiar with the new procedures before beginning aircraft specific training.

As to your question, no recall notices have been issued, nor have I heard of any plan regarding the "mess" you speak of. The latest furlough update from UAL basically said, "we don't have any information about recall potential at this time....."

Frats,
Lee

i bet you the company covered their arse in this AIP. "No recalls to UAL from CAL - all freezes released after the ISL". Would not surprise me.

A lot of LOAs are ending plus MIL leaves coming back equals IOEs on the 320/767/777/747. Sounds like your captain is confused, hard to believe.
Seems like captains give me bad info like that at least once a trip; might as well be in TK!

Not even close to being true.....this "cAPT" sounds like a tool bag.

....and leave it to United to have "cAPT's" on the "Hiring Team" instead of some level head F/O's who were furloughed (you know the guys/gals who actually were OUT IN THE INDUSTRY flying with other pilots!

UFB!

Can you possibly imagine accepting a job new hire position with Unical at the moment? My prediction is that EACH and EVERY ONE of the folks that hire on to the LCAL side this fall are furloughed within 6 months due to the flood of recall guys coming on the property after this JCBA happens.

OH WAIT......Maybe there isn't any JCBA coming? Maybe we have an AIP that is only meant as a delaying tactic to get us through the summer otherwise why in the HE!! wouldn't we be bringing back our furloughs?

This just isn't adding up now is it...

Anybody, I'm sorry to say, who hires on with UCH before the JCBA and ISL is settled is so short sighted and so stupid they deserve whatever they get. Plain and simple don't come to work here right now..DUHHHHH!!!

I am a vol. furlough, and have had no recall. There were vol. furloughs, and there were pilots that chose an LOA. For me the vol furlough was better, but for some they wanted a hard date to come back so they chose a LOA.

If there are any returning pilots to the UAL side , it must be a pilot on LOA.

I'll bet you anything in the world your prediction is wrong.

It is true, that furloughs could happen if some crazy unforeseen event occurs. To think they will furlough a junior pilot to allow someone who previously bypassed come back is flat out fools talk.
