Default UCH converts orders

This is different from the 150 plane order announced last month. Last week UCH converted their remaining B737-700 (73G) orders into orders for forty-seven (47) more 737-900ERs. That brings the total order now to 97 -900ERs and 100 -9MAXs.

The conversion by UCH pushed orders for the -900ER version over the 500 mark for Boeing. UCH (CAL) has not taken delivery of a 73G for years now.

Always wondered when they would convert those orders to something bigger. May not be a 757, but at least they are the bigger/higher paying 737 version. So if not all the 757s are being replaced with the -900ER as even the company stated, what are they going to be used for? Not likely growth as we know we wouldn't dare compete against DL. Replacement of even more older planes (Airbus and older NG 737s)?

The A-320's are slated to go away by 2017 so that makes sense.

If you look at the history of the Continental 737NG orders, you will notice that every order was for the -700. It is a function of pricing and the amount of down payment required at the time of the order. Almost all of these orders are then converted to -800's/-900's/-900ER's at a certain date prior to delivery. This gives Boeing the flexibility to place additional -800 etc. in the line while saving the company money on the initial order. Been that way for 15 years.

So the airbii are gonna be gone by 2017? ORLY? so...Save the few -700s we have now, we won't have any mainline aircraft with a seating capacity < 152. That's one of those things Arsenio would say 'make you go Hmmm." I won't even mention the -500s because i'ts a foregone conclusion that they are gonna leave as soon as we can find someone to buy em from us.
