Ship Set charts UAL/CAL

I know it has nothing to do with the Merger, but I really haven't kept up with the topic since furlough. Anyways, I thought I heard that UAL went to ships set of approach plates, so no need to carry the flight case. What about CAL, have they moved to this. Just going back to CAL in a few weeks, wanted to check.

Not at CAL, but from everything I've seen, pilots still carry the paper charts for now. No ship sets.

50 pounds of fun, plus lots of revisions to keep you busy!

Just fininshed doing some revisions in the flight manual. I'm not sure who is "proof reading" these revisions but they need to be fired. I don't know how many revisions I did that had stuff like "glide slope" instead of "glideslope", so just another 2000 sheets of paper wasted and the time spent doing the revision for a 1/16 of an inch space between two words. Sad............really sad.

Just did rev #19 with the FOM revision intermingled with the approach plates. The whole time I kept thinking, those ipads have been on property for two years now. I don't know who's in charge of the flt. ops end of the technology chain....but they get a great big, "unsat" in my opinion.

does L-UAL side carry them?

No, they belong to the airplane. No big bag to carry & no revisions. It's pretty good; not perfect.

flight manual goes in the trash as an FO. WOM goes in the trash as an FO. Hat went in the trash, delay cookie, you guessed it...trash. chart notams in the trash........I'm embarrassed to be carrying this crap around. So 2008.

Told in FAM, not only do we get to carry a brain bag around, we get an iPad (which we can't use just yet)....
Hey, I need a good "workout" to get in shape...

Not to mention that some of these "revisions" have gotten so complex it takes a rocket scientist to figure out where the pages go........... Just amazes me the amount of time, energy and paper that is wasted in this day and age..................and now it seems to have migrated to our flight plans that are 38 pages long for a 23 minute EWR-BOS flight. Ridiculous......................
