Not sure how to format this.. but here goes.

CrewNews Compensation

Example 3
In this example, if we see this pairing any more (unlikely), you will be well paid for it.
------------------------------------------------------------------- E3178
PILOT --> 1635 20/Nov
TU 75B 74 EWR HAM 1735 0730 7:55 S 7:55 9:25 97:30 DO
SOFITEL ALTER WALL 49-40-369500 OP->494050752367
STARS 494050753057
PILOT --> 0800
SU 75B 75 HAM EWR 0900 1205 9:05 S 9:05 10:35 IN
TOTAL CR: 29:00 TOTAL BLK: 17:00 TAFB: 116:00

Min 5/Calendar Day: 6 days x 5 = 30
Trip Rig: 1 hour pay for 3.5 hours TAFB: 116:00/3.5 = 33:08
Duty Rig: 1 hour pay for 2 hours duty: (9:25/2 = 4:43) + (10:35/2 = 5:18) = 10:01

The pilot is paid the greatest of the three, or trip rig, which makes this trip pay 33:08 hours.

LOA 25
  1. Time Away from Base Rig
    For one (1) year after the Operational Merger Date (as defined by the Transition and Process Agreement dated September 26, 2010), Section 5-G-3 of the Agreement shall read as follows: “Schedules shall contain a minimum of one (1) hour pay value for each four (4) hours elapsed time away from his Base, prorated on a schedule or actual basis whichever is greater.”

TPA
1-R. Operational Merger Date. The first day of the Complete Operational Merger.

1-E. Complete Operational Merger. The operation of Continental and United as a single air carrier under a Single Operating Certificate issued by the FAA, after establishment of a single transportation system under the RLA, and under both the Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement and an Integrated Seniority List.

So, let me guess this straight. We do NOT go to "Trip Rig" of 1 hour Pay for 3.5 TAFB unitl....
June 2014 at the earliest!

IF this POS TA passes in mid Dec.. 6 months later we could/should have an ISL. For one year after that, we will remain at one (1) hour of pay value for each four (4) hours...

So why is our own Union misleading us?!
Can someone else look at this and verify..

Thanks
Motch

PS> What happens if the SIL is held up in court?

I also want to mention that when I went to the EWR Crewroom on the 20th, and engaged FO Tara Cook, Council 170 FO Rep, she was quick to defend this pairing as a good example of how we'll get paid more~
33:08 hrs.

When I confronted her why the Union used a 5 day HAM trip that isn't the norm, and why they used the language "if we see this pairing anymore (unlikely), you will be well paid for it" ..
Her answer was, the company won't build these as they are not efficient.
As far as why they used this particular pairing.. unknown. "You'll have to ask them at a Road Show"

But something caught my eye during my second read through and I found the above, dealing with the 1-4 Duty Rig.

Hi Motch,

When I first saw these, I assumed they were produced by the company as they are so biased. They only point out positives, no negatives so it made sense that they would be company produced. Then I realized that ALPA put these out. It is really surprising to me how hard the union is trying to sell this contract - the question is why?

So they get a 4 year deal, but only have to pay on the great "get" items for threebc the good stuff isnt going to be in effect until nearly a year after signing....
Thats ridiculous!

Bump...
Why isn't the CAL EWR Capt Rep answering this post?
Why aren't the rest of the YES Voters answering this post?

You're making an assumption that anonymous bulletin boards matter...they don't.

Not everyone here is "anonymous"...
And there are alot of guys who merely lurk. Hopefully, they are the ones that go to Roadshows or ask their reps these types of questions.

Likewise, although I may agree w single issues you rise...when are you going to answer what gripe do you have above or in any section that is as important as not remaining a weak LCC modeled whipsawed union? You can want and demand every min of the day but if we remain divided that is as far as you'll get. If I was the NMB I wouldn't allow a demand based on a comparison to a functional single pilot group...you'd get to compare yourselves to US Airways period. I speak the same words in person as well.

Motch,

You make an excellent point, but I don't understand why do you feel the Union is deceiving you? Have they not give you every page of contract? Are the examples in the Crew News not legitimate? BTW- I've flown two of the trips that are in the CrewNews, as well as countless other, pay nothing, waste my time trips.

Did you notice that several CrewNews were published the same day that the TA was released? Do you remember that the Implementation LOA was the last document to be produced and wasn't even finalized until well into the MEC review period? I ask this because it stands to reason that most of the CrewNews were written before LOA 25 was finished.

I don't see this as deception, just as reality of the Union trying to write explanations of the contract as expeditiously as possible.

You asked what happens if SLI is held up in court. I can tell you one thing that happens; we still receive the pay bump on Jan 1, 2014. How that ever got by the company is beyond me. But I'm glad it did.

You actually haven't received every page of the contract. There is at least one missing LOA and other sections have missing details. Ask this at the road shows.
