Training pay under old CAL system

For those in the know..... I am guessing quite a few UAL furloughees will be showing up for class in the coming weeks since the passing of the TA. Per the new contract, the 3.25 daily during an extended training event does not begin for 3 bid periods. In the meantime, I assume the old CAL system will remain in place. Can someone who is familiar describe how a pilot is paid in training (guarantee, 60 hours, etc.) and is per diem payed as well? Thank you in advance!

I thought everything was retroactive back to Nov. 30. That's what the union blastmail said.

Not everything. See LOA 26. Many items are 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 9 months later! (Another reason I voted no).
Pay will be now.
Training pay per day in third full bid period after the effective date. So 2:24 for now.

I went thru the training recently. We got paid a 72 hour guarantee and daily per diem of (1.85 x 24) for every day of month including days off. I'm not sure what your pay rate will be. Just a guess but if your last UAL rate was under $115 an hour, I assume you will get the 5th year JCBA rate (refer to LOA25) of $115. If you were making more than that at United, I think you will still get that higher rate until SLI (under terms of T&PA). Also I think the per diem rate increases at DOS to $2.15 an hour

This kind of statement is going to be very common going forward.

Can you produce that blastmail? I must have missed it.

Payrates and per diem rates go into effect immediately and are back dated to Dec 1st. I will dig up the email shortly.

Its in LOA 26 on page 470 of TA. There is a chart that gives implementation dates. The payrates go into effect on the first day of the bid during the month in which the TA is ratified.

D Implementation Plan
For purposes of this Letter of Agreement, the effective date of the Agreement will be the
beginning of the first full Bid Period following the date of signing. Provisions related to rates
of pay, per diem, international pay override, GUM foreign base allowance, vacation accruals,
deadhead center seating premium, and employer DC contribution shall be effective upon the
first day of the Bid Period in which date of signing of the Agreement occurs
. Other provisions
not delineated below shall also be implemented upon the effective date, except for those
parts, and only to the extent that the JIT agrees they are, dependent upon an issue
delineated below. Until a provision is implemented, pilots will continue operating under the
provisions of their previous CBAs, or as may otherwise be agreed by the Company and the

Thanks, I know this because I have read the information.

I was asking OttoLillienthal to produce the the blastmail where the union said that everything is retroactive to Nov. 30

Ahhhh, LOA 26, another reason for my "NO" vote.
Funny how many people overlooked that (I did too initially). Not everything goes into effect right away, or even relatively soon. Some provisions don't have a timeline even....
