Not to defend Jeff's performance, because it's pathetic, but it would be tough to compare 2010 financials to 2012 financials in any meaningful way. Even DAL struggled in the 4th Q this year and just barely eeked out a profit.

But Delta didn't drive away their high value customers en masse during the summer of 2012 like we did. Smizek says they are coming back but the jury is still out.

I have no clue what he meant by that, perhaps FedEx and/or email, two forms of communication, etc, I have no idea. The fact remains we need pilots – pronto on CAL side, and the latest system bid shows that, nearly 600 vacancies, with 200 remaining from previous system bid.
Personally, I wish we can move quicker into SLI so we can all wipe our tears after waiving our hands in the air in protest about each and everyone’s place on the seniority, settle in the bases and equipment we want, and finally finish this integration process.

Why the rush into the SLI? Allot of men and women here will have their seniority screwed with... I don't want to see a rush job that could over look things done in haste. Or are you just saying start the arbitration process now and skip the beginning stages of the process?

Just to clarify. Rainey was asked about DAL 2012 profit vs UAL 2012 profit. Not 2012 to 2010. Rainey's remark was in reference to the fact that DAL is 2 years ahead of UAL in merger synergies. Nothing was asked or said about 2010 financials.

DAL.... 4th qtr 2012 $238M profit and $1.6B profit for the full year 2012 (excluding special items)

UAL.... 4th qtr 2012 $190M LOSS and $589M profit for the full year 2012 (excluding special items)

The analyst was asking about the HUGE gap in profitability between 2 like sized carriers.

 Bid 14-02 will be effective the 1st day of the February 2014 bid period – unless subsequently superseded as a result of the Seniority List Integration by Vacancy/Displacement Bidding.

What's a displacement bid? Could a furloughee decide to come back and displace a newhire off the equipment?

No. If your equipment or base is going away, a displacement bid is issued. A pilot with a displacement bid is entitled to bump to anywhere his seniority can hold (no vacancy required). The company may or may not issue secondary and tertiary displacements as a result. A returning furloughee would not have displacement rights.

Just wondering.............if the ten years of recall passes, what happens to those who continued to bypass? When does the ten years occur?
