Going Forward
Watching the comments/finger pointing after the JCBA vote, I wonder to what level the SLI discussion will sink to. I'm further concerned what the mood will be like in the cockpit once we merge crews.
Like it or not, we have no control over this. ALPA is our Pontius Pilate. One could argue that no two mergers are the same. Therefore, a one size fits all merger policy is not feasible. ALPA has intentionally constructed a process whereby they wash their hands and walk away while we are left to pick up the pieces. We understand that our vision of a perfect seniority list construct, to one degree or another, is unattainable. We should also understand that after the list is constructed, it will serve no one to bash the other side. The I told you so's and we were robbed will only accomplish one thing. Making our lives at this sweat factory even more miserable. Going forward, is it more important to comment to promote a certain seniority list construct, or is it more important to comment to promote understanding? We certainly won't decide the final list, but we better understand the pilots, sans scabs, that make up that list when we fly with them. |
It all comes down to the lawsuits..............

You mean like the east/west id tags they wear under their company id's? |
Binding arbitration has already been agreed upon by both sides. What purpose would a lawsuit serve? Will it make somebody feel better? It won't change anything other than making your bank account have fewer zeros at the end.
Maybe it would be cheaper to hire a therapist than a lawyer. At least the therapist will try to make you feel better. The lawyer will try to make you feel worse so that you feel better about your rapidly mounting legal bill. Take is as it comes. If you don't like the outcome, you can resign. Almost every airline should be hiring in 2013. |
