I wasn't there, but when I read one of our "Attarian updates" from his domicile tour, I believe he said hiring would pause through the summer, pick up again in the fall.

Don't quote me on that

Hiring will pause because all the PI's, Standards Captains and LCA's will be out busting a$$ on the line to keep cancellations to a minimum.

Every summer the place falls apart and we cancel hundreds of flights. We send our PAX and their money to anyone else with a seat. And every year, there are millions in bonuses awarded to those who mismanaged us into the fiasco.

And they wonder why we have bad attitudes?

I think it will pause as the company waits to see just how lean they can keep the pilot numbers with the incentives that are now available to cover trips.

An excellent point Syd.

There were a ton of trips in open recently and very little reserve coverage. I suspect that they dipped into the cash register to get them all covered. Some guys seem content to line their pockets while we (still) have guys on furlough and CAL hires like mad. Interesting unionism we have here at UCAL.

Can anyone post the seniority number of the most junior lineholder on the 737 FO in IAH and EWR.

I agree with the sentiments, but the fact is they will be running new hire classes through the summer. No it will not be anywhere near full speed ahead, but there will be a small but steady addition of new hires through the summer.

Not sure the "Junior" Lineholder is the right term. Next week, when PBS opens of the CAL side, I will find the G Line number. That's the important seniority number.

There are always guys and gals who are below the Line Holder line, who get Lines as some senior guys bid reserve. If you're local and senior, reserve isn't too bad sometimes. Though, currently on the 756.. reserves are basically line holders with the lineholder protections!

Motch

PS> Nov 07 hire, about 82% Seniority, and bidding about 80% on my BES. Lineholder with a weekend off here and there.

The only problem with your statement is we are not even in summer flying yet and we are canceling flights do to no crews.

Several Europe flights are being canceled they send the flight without an IRO and hope they find one and guess what ??? They Don't who the **** is at the wheel of this ship because it is sinking.
