Singapore Airlines ordered 30 787-10 from Boeing, and British Airways inked 12 firm orders for the jumbo jet. United Airlines (UAL) ordered 20.

UAL ordered 10. The other 10 are a change from previous order~

In total, the current UAL order stands at 65 firm. (30 CAL, 25 LUAL and now 10 N[ew]UAL) Question is, how many are replacement jets, how many are growth?

That's the $64K Question.

On last Friday co-worker Jeff was at financial conference and stated:

"Fleet count to remain flat over next five years"

FWIW, the audio recoding and powerpoint, where there above quote is a verbatim copy of a bullet point, is available on the UCH Investor website.

Is he talking about the ~700 aircraft mainline fleet or the ~1200 aircraft "United/UAX" fleet? Or does is he just saying what he thinks the market wants to hear today knowing full well that the "official position" can change anytime due to market conditions???

Hmmm.....

No growth. We will be down 12 airframes from CY'12 to CY'13. It's a little harder to read the dice going forward, but the lastest word on the street is all bar 14 L-UAL 767-300's will be retired and all bar 16 L-UAL 757-200's are going away. All L-CAL 756's are "keepers." The "replacement" for the L-UAL D757-200's are the 737-900ERs. No replacement on the horizion for the I757-200's. BTW, all L-CAL D757-300's are being modified to "I" standard.

We started with over 710 planes at the Merger announcement.
Down to 690 by the end of the year.

FYI.
AA - 608 planes active 531 on firm order
US - 346 planes active, 55 on firm order

The ual 767-300s are replaced with cal 787s. The LUAL pilots will be fenced off their replacement aircraft? Then you have no fences for the 777s? Alrighty then...back to my padded cell.

ST,

How about a little Orwell?

"We have now sunk to a depth at which re-statement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men."

or,

"To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle"

Doesn't matter what airplanes stay or not, its the UAL routes and passengers being flown by those airplanes.
