Just received a letter from Charlie Venema stating that all August classes are full and SLI is on track for September. No more hiring onto the Continental list. About 800 furloughees at United now have to be offered recall before any of us in the pool can be placed in a class. Looks like its gonna be a while. :-/

It should be around November, more than likely, that the poolies will get used and off the street will begin again. Your floating shouldn't be too long.

Thanks for the update.

No problem. I know it is tough and frustrating for sure to be hired but not have the really hired feel of being on property. As you know this all hinges on the SLI. Contractually we offer the recall to the remaining L-UAL pilots. They will have a set time to reply with thier intentions of accept, bypass or quit. This should happen quickly after the arbitrated ISL is presented to the company. Once we know how many are coming back we can then look at the numbers needed for the remainder of the 2013 & 2014 to see how many to hire off the street. The hiring process is already in place now so it is much easier as faster to start hiring again. Again, predicated on a September ISL. if this gets delayed, which it shouldn't, then it will increase your swim time.

Thanks man, I appreciate the encouragement. Do you know if there is a finite time we can be in the pool before they can rescind a job offer?

When I was notified I was hired I got an email the next day. It stated that you were in the pool for 1 year.

I had to sign it and fax it back.

Any idea of how many vacancies will need to be filled (by furloughed or off the street hire) by years end?

I am not sure how this effects any of the hiring but they did just offer some leaves for sept, oct nov as they say we transition from summer to fall.

Just wondering if they have released any numbers on staffing levels due to part 117 changes (incase people don't know, due to the q400 crash in Buf 2009 congress passed new rest rules for airline pilots changing us from working under part 121 to part 117). My current airline thinks they need 10% more pilots to cover current Schedule.
Just wonder what United thinks to cover flying?

Thanks

Have not heard any yet 82spukram, and I don't mean to scare anyone with the leaves just throwing out info. Hope to see all of you on the line soon.
