Right now IAH has about 27 % of the domestic HUB 737 departures, but has 47% of the Domestic Hub 737 F/Os. While that is a very back of the napkin way to estimate pilot need, the difference is large enough to say that the IAH 737 Domicile is going to be shrinking through attrition for some time to come.

On the flip side the IAH HUB has 15% of the A320 departures, but only 4% of the A320 F/Os, so that will be a growing domicile.

For 737 new hires, what is the best place to live (after EWR) to fly out of domicile as quick as possible? Always heard IAH was second.

What's the flip side to the JFK 76T argument? I've heard how senior the fleet is & how you'll be sitting reserve until the next ice age, but are there any benefits? International travel seems a given, but what are the trips like? Are you gone fewer days a month than on the 73?

IAH is second.

How senior is DCA/IAD?

Too Senior for New hires.

The problem (in my humble opinion) with bidding the 76T and being junior is when they combine the fleet with the 756 fleet. You will be on reserve longer and then when you do become a junior line holder you will be doing 15 hour 3 day trips to Ireland and the United Kingdom for a loooooong time. All for the same pay as the 737 as you won't be able to touch a 767 trip.

Now, if you live in base, and don't mind sitting reserve, then you may want to bid it. However, if you commute, want more days off, and a line quicker, bid the 737 or Airbus

Sorry Seggy,

Word from TK is that the 757 fleets will not be combined. FAA said too many differences. It might be once we are down to just the PS fleet, but that will be well into next year if not '15, and I doubt that.

So, pay banding, west coast 76T pilots pay cut next month...oh boy. Bid the 737? I'd say yes. Same pay and much better QOL.

No need to be sorry, I heard something else and that they are working on to combine the fleet once the L-UAL 757s are parked that were going to be parked. I could have heard wrong.

Bottom line for the poolies is that there is a lot questions with the 756 and 76T Fleet. So keep that in mind if your number comes up in class and you have the chance to bid it.

Regardless of all of this, for the poolies, I just finished my first year and LOVE it here. I am sure the poolies will as well no matter what plane they get.

Seggy, No problem. You are right. Bottom line is there will be a lot of uncertainty in the 757 fleet for a couple of years. Buyer be ware. I also do expect a high turn over rate in the upper end of the list either due to bidding off or bumps, but the bottom of the list will be stagnant for a long time.

For the poolies just awarded class...how far out did you receive your call? The last cv email said for me to expect early jan maybe mid jan...with the bid that closed last week just trying to gauge how much notice I may get? Tomorrow is 3 weeks till the jan 7 class...can you tell I want to start!
