sUA SEA 777 base closing?

Talking to an FA who said the SEA-NRT 777 operated by sUA is going to a sCO 787 <insert snarky fire comment here> on Nov. 5th. Looking at united.com reservations, sure enough there's UA105, a 787 SEA-NRT.

LOA 25 says the company can't close the SEA pilot base for 2 years after DOS, so what are the SEA 777 guys going to do in the mean time?
  • Deadhead and pickup flying?
  • New SEA destinations?
  • UA 777 pilots transition to the 787?

Was this one of the unnamed NPDMs recently announced in the MEC update?

No. It was the retirement of 757s and that no sUA pilot domicile would close, and the sUA 737s that are coming and a new sUA 737 base (my guess is SFO).

News of a 787 base was apparently discussed with SSC but no NPDM yet.

I think they started calling the 787 "SPARKY". Given it's ability to start itself on fire, it may be a good name for 787. Sparky!

1. Seattle Base Commitment
The Company shall not exercise its rights under Section 8-H-3 of the Agreement to close the Seattle Base for a period of two (2) years from date of signing (“DOS”) of the Agreement.

Doesn't say they can't close SEA 777. There would still be a 756 base.

We are nearing 1 year from DOS very soon. By the end of 2014 they should be ready to close the 757 base as well.

Who would want a Seattle base anyways, that city blows and rains all the time.

Now that's funny. Houston, Cleveland, and Sewark are all yours...have at it chief.

Isn't Cleveland going to be closed shortly?
