UAL/CAL Merger timeline.
What kind of timeline did your merger have? I'm just curious as to how long all the milestones will take with the us/aa merger.

Merger announced May 2010. Merger closed Oct 1, 2010. JCBA (joint pilot contract) fall 2012. ISL pending (announcement could be any day in the next several weeks.) We are also bound to ALPA merger policy for our joint contract and SLI so it won't be a direct comparison to AMR/US. |

May 2010 merger announced June 2010 CAL MC reads the new ALPA merger policy July 2010 CAL MC puts together a longevity based seniority list and doesn't like the result. August 2010 CAL MC puts together a status and category based seniority list and doesn't the result. September 2010 CAL MC puts together a career expectation based seniority list and doesn't like the result. October 2010 Merger closes. UAL is surviving company and issues stock to CAL shareholders wiping out the old CAL corporate structure. Wall St analysts say value split was 65 UAL and 35 CAL. UCH new corporation name for UAL Corp. Company is under one management for decision making (I.e. pilot staffing, etc) October 2010 joint JCBA negotiations for new contract November 2010 UCH decides It needs pilots again, so they recall the cheapest cost pilots which are the furloughed CAL pilots with an overall lower annual cost. June 2011 CAL MEC demands pay banding to help them with seniority integration. They threaten to hold the contract up forever, since contracts come and go but seniority integration only lasts once. October 2011 UCH forced to recall furloughed UAL pilots to CAL side. They agree because even though they are more expensive than new hires with their 7+ years longevity, the benefits and work rules are pathetic so it's still a good economic deal for the company. November 2011 CAL MC states the returning pilots are not recalled to United, even though they are wearing united uniforms, getting paid by united, and flying united airplanes. December 2011 CAL MC states that pilots who flew for continental express were CAL pilots, even though they were at a different airline, because the name had continental in front and despite those pilots requiring a new indoc per the FAA because the FAA did not recognize those pilots as existing pilots, but as new ones at the mainline carrier. August 2012 Contract TA announced. December 2012 Worst contract ever for UAL pilots ratified. It's the best contract any CAL pilot has ever seen. April 2012 CAL MC proposes 1 for 1 pilot seniority integration and insists ALPA merger policy does not include longevity, status and category, nor careers expectations. This despite CAL MC Chairman voting those part of the new policy into existence and having written a negative opinion on the USAir America West merger stating the USAir pilot longevity should have been included. CAL MC states that UAL can't need more pilot than CAL because they are both "airlines" so they determine that those pilots must be "extra" and submit a seniority proposal stapling 3,000 of them behind every CAL pilot, including those on furlough. August 2013 Still no integrated seniority list but CAL pilots have seen the most growth doubling the number of flying domiciles. UAL pilots get a domicile in IAH and they can't fill the FO slots because no one wants to be based there. |

You may not agree with this...but I'm telling you the truth... Keep dreaming about UAL pilots being "thrilled" to merge with the biggest scab airline out there. |

Can't wait until the sparks start flying at AA/US AIR. It will make this arbitration look like a cake walk. I would pay to see that. Maybe we can get that on Pay Per View. AND IN THIS CORNERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR... |
