New Hire Schedule

Just curious if anyone could enlighten me to the approximate average monthly take home pay is for a newhire.

Trying to work out a budget....

3 hrs a day over the entire foot print of training, plus $52 a day in per diem.
The net will depend on your deductions and if you go to Guam.

1600 on the 1st and 4000 on the 16th, after taxes.

That is during training with the 90 hr guarantee. The check on the 16th adds the above 73 hr extra 17 hrs plus perdiem.

Thanks for the info...What about once you get to the line? I know it can vary greatly, but I'm just looking for ballpark figures. Is just getting guarantee pretty common?

Always plan and budget just like you'll always make guarantee pay and that's it. If you make more, then shove that $ into savings. Don't be the typical airline person that owns fancy toys and once they can hold a line they have to pimp themselves out to pay for everything. The more you own, the more it owns you!

That being said, when I was on the 737, most of the time it was around 75-80 hours of pay per month. I don't know about 757 as I never flew that. On the 777, I bid long call reserve and fly as little as possible, so I NEVER break guarantee :)

That will vary greatly based on where a person resides and the optional deductions you wish to take (i.e. Single 0? Married 10? 401K deferral amount?) It's hard to give an approximate monthly take home average.

Assuming reserve for your first year:
1st paycheck = 35 hours
2nd paycheck = 38 hours

Deductions:
Federal taxes XX% (what's your bracket?)
Medicare 1.45%
SS 6.2%
State XX%
Local XX%
ALPA 1.90% (as of 1/1/14 after end of probationary year)
401k XX% (your choice; also will you choose the regular pre-tax 401k or the post-tax Roth 401k option?)
1/2 of Medical premium (will vary based on medical options chosen)
1/2 of Dental premium (will vary based on options chosen)
1/2 of LOL/LTD premium which is about 1-1.25 hrs of pay rate per month (Advice: DO NOT waive this insurance!)
RHA VEBA $1 per hour of pay earned (Supposed to be deducted on 2nd check only after previous month's total hours is determined)
There are also optional life insurance and personal accident insurance plans available to you if you desire.

These are some of the deductions I can think of off the top of my head. May not make it easier for you to figure out, sorry to say.
