Invites Post ISL?

Haven't heard any chatter about anyone getting invites to interview since ISL. Are they still going out? Or are we on pause?

tmac3333 10-01-2013 06:04 PM

Yes, I know of 3 people who have gotten invited to interviews, all since September 4th.

nfo99 10-01-2013 06:25 PM

Still a little bit of everything in regards to background?

Probably 10,000 applicants.

At least half match or exceed your qualifications.

It's going to open up eventually, but it's still very competitive.

Can you dance? Every little bit helps.

That's a good question, I was wondering the same thing.

That's great and all, but not an answer to the question. Those guys were probably in the initial wave of emails. When were they initially contacted? Griego is asking, the way I read it, has UA made email contact with anyone since the initial wave of emails. Specifically post SLI.

P Tang 10-02-2013 11:27 AM

I know of two buddies that were called for an interview after SLI. One was hired and the other interviewed yesterday.

JetBlast77 10-02-2013 12:57 PM

I dunno why people keep talking about these emails. I dont know anyone including myself who got one initially since the very first wave. I was called out of the blue, interviewed two weeks later, and was hired the following week. The only email I ever got was the personality test after the initial call and then confirming the interview. People are getting called at a pretty steady pace right now.

wifeofpilot 10-02-2013 01:35 PM

No response from interview?

Has anyone who interviewed around 9/13/2013 not received any contact regarding whether or not they got the job?

Thanks!

Relax wife - keep your husband relaxed. And why are you carrying HIS water?!

That came across harsh but please try to let him be the pilot with leadership qualities that you think he does. This time before the call for the interview is very tough on him - don't make it tougher.

wifeofpilot 10-02-2013 05:24 PM

You mis-read the question Shrek. He had an interview several weeks ago-this is not the "time before the call for the interview". Then, he never heard anything either way. On another thread I read that a lot of guys/gals that interviewed after him had already been called or emailed whether or not they got the job. He is a very laid back kind of guy who lets me get on this forum because he knows I enjoy it. He couldn't care less about what is said on here and doesn't even know I have asked a question on here. I didn't mean to offend you by posting my question here, so chill out dude!

You're probably right that being 19 days something is up. I would probably call CV's office, be polite and just say he didn't hear anything in the 7-10 days and what day he interviewed. I wouldn't do this until after clearing out the email inbox, spam, trash etc just to be sure.

I assume Shrek has not interviewed with a major in a looong time (if ever) so he has no idea how nerve wracking and stressful it can be right now... the entire process is -- before, during, waiting to hear, then waiting for a class date... no worries... most of the rest of us get it.

your husband should have been contacted by now. most people are called a week or two after the interview (usually on a Wednesday after the board meets) have him check his junk email just in case.

Called for interview 9/8 post SLI
Interviewed week of 9/16
Got the 'good news' call 9/26

Similar stories from lots of folks. A buddy interviewed last week of August (not a part of the initial 300 emails) and is starting training Oct 29. Best of luck to you all.

Shrek;
That is very sensative of you. You will make a great pilots' wife someday.

My one piece of advice is if you want to know what the status of his interview is I would have HIM call or email CV ONCE and only once to find out.

I hope he gets the good news for what it's worth. Good Luck

Call! To be honest after this many days the spam folder may have bad news or his contact info is bad? Just call ASAP! There is laid back but this is a bit much.

The brain to mouth filter does not work in the OFF position Tonne.

How long do most guys wait after taking the online personality test before hearing something back regarding an interview? Are people eliminated at that phase?

Shrek has paid his dues, Hired by UAL in '08. Was that not a competitive time? He was very qualified as a new hire since he had been flying the bus at a previous employer. I know this because I was in his ground school while I was upgrading. Sad for him and others got Tilton(sized). Had a 8000 mile commute while furloughed and thankfully is back at UAL.

Tonne, think first, then type, or just S T F U !

Are you gonna fight all his fights for him? Paid his dues? Says who? I know that term" paying your dues" is different per generation...

I think they're getting responses fairly quickly now (I got mine the next day). As for elimination at that point I'm not sure. Good luck!

Slats Extend 10-11-2013 06:13 AM

Personality test

Yes! You can be eliminated at that point.

The key to taking it is to be consistent with your answers throughout and to pay attention.

Don't take it if you are tired or distracted.

Good Luck!

This.

And don't over-think it...just answer each question honestly and go to the next one. Trying to "game" the test is a sure-fire way to fail the test.

flyboycpa 10-11-2013 06:39 AM

I've tried to the limits of my wits-end, to get my buddy a call for an interview. His stats:

7000 TT
5500 Turbine PIC
4 Jet Type Ratings
Part 135 Company Instructor (i.e., not Check Airman)
Just a regular white guy
No accidents/incidents/violations
3 letters of recommendation on file
He's had one meet-and-greet with a CP

I don't know the magic potion, I guess, as he's way better qualified than I was when I got hired in '07.

BYOB 10-11-2013 06:44 AM

You have to get his stuff in front of CV.

Isn't that what a CP meeting that went well is supposed to do?

flyingnm1 10-11-2013 03:18 PM

Sometimes the CP forgets to forward the application to CV. You may want to check.
