International Jumpseat Question
 

I jumpseat internationally on United once in a while and get a seat in economy assigned as is the normal procedure. The flight I am looking at tomorrow is 857 SFO to PVG. It looks full in the back and somewhat open in the front according to the United app. Will the gate agent be able to assign me a seat in Business or Global first since there are no seats in the back, or will I be out of luck?

They will probably (very likely) upgrade a revenue from the back to the front, and it will vacate a seat in the back for you.

Bring some treats for the CS agent and Purser... Bet it works out in your favor if seats avail in BC or FC...

I gave up on SFO, and it looks like I should get one of the last couple seats on the LAX flight.

I did indeed get the upgrade. The whole crew was very friendly. It looks like I will be begging for the last seat again tomorrow to get home.
