IAD crash pads?
For someone considering a lateral into IAD what is the crashpad situation like there? I've commuted to ORD for 15 years and SFO for a year and have had no problem finding convenient crashpads at these two places for less than $200, as well as fairly cheap hotels. I'm under the impression that IAD might be a different story though.

I wouldn't want to be a reserve in IAD unless you lived locally. Getting to BWI from a crashpad near Dulles would be a problem. |

Don't know about crashpads, but to build on what pilotgolfer posted, there are hotels alot cheaper than $70-90 a night. Some great deals on some weekends with AAA membership. Some hotels offer crew rates, especially if you work for a recogized airline.
I've gotten a room for $46 a night, but generally spend $55 to $65. |
Guess I should have specified.....I would be on RSV on the 777. Yes, commuting to IAD reserve! There's a reason it goes junior, huh?

Great iad crew rate!!!!!!
The Wingate hotel in Chantilly is exactly 12 minutes from IAD. The crew rate is always $52.00 and is a great deal. The staff is fantastic, they offer a FULL breakfast and the rooms are new and clean. There are many restaurants nearby and the shuttle is always available. They run the airport shuttle 24 hours/day so there is never a problem. Try this place out. They are also considering a stay 12 nights get the 13th free program. Their number is 571.203.0999

The crashpad options are pretty much at hotels anyways but with bunk beds in them, so you will have 3-6 people in a 2 bedroom hotel room with kitchenette. There is one that is a townhouse that is a better option but you would need a car or use a cab.
And roughly $150 for 5 nights and $300 for I think up to 14 nights at the hotel crash pads. |
