LGA trips
I'm new on reserve in EWR (NYC technically, I guess) on the 737 and I noticed more and more trips start/end in LGA. Does anyone know where I would park my car? Is there an employee lot? Thanks!

Look it up in the contract, but I think it has to be submitted within 10 days after parking there. I lost the $33 for the day trip I parked there, because I waited too long to submit the receipt.

The company should provide parking at all 3 airports. EWR, LGA and JFK. I don't think you have to submit the parking expenses on a regular bases. You are also entitled for crosstown mileage. Maybe one of the JFK guys can chime in with the details.

TO THE OP: WHENEVER YOU SUBMIT AN EXPENSE REPORT HERE AT UNITED, MAKE SURE YOU SAVE A COPY OF THE RECEIPT AND THE PHOTO YOU TOOK OF IT UNTIL IT'S BEEN PAID. Their new favorite trick is to sit on expenses for a month and then deny the claim saying that your receipt wasn't legible. Then you can email them a copy of the receipt if you want it to be reconsidered. Of course, when you try to go back in and look at the picture that you originally submitted, they remove it and it simply says "receipt received". I just took a full-res 36MP image of my alterations receipt. You want it legible? I could blow this thing up large enough to wallpaper my hotel room with. |

4-D-4 When a Trip originates and terminates at an airport that is not the primary airport of a Pilot’s Base, he shall receive a mileage allowance of twenty-nine cents ($0.29) per mile or the mileage rate found in Company policy, whichever is greater, for the actual performance of the scheduled trip calculated for the round trip driving distance between his Base airport and the airport at which the trip originates and terminates. Further, he shall receive twenty dollars ($20.00) per hour plus per diem set forth in Section 4-A-1, calculated using the applicable time listed in the table directly below. However, the provisions of this Section 4-D-4 shall not apply to Surface Deadhead between LGA/JFK and IAD/DCA.
Airport Pair Travel Time EWR-LGA 1:30 EWR-JFK 1:30 MDW-ORD 1:45 DCA-BWI 1:10 IAD-BWI 1:45 SFO-OAK 1:00 SFO-SJC 1:00 SEA-BFI 0:45 IAH-HOU 1:15 LAX-BUR 1:15 LAX-ONT 2:15 LAX-PMD 2:30 LAX-SNA (LAX-based pilots only) 2:00 I am still trying to find the 10 day reimbursement rule for you... A Capt I flew with pointed it out when I was about a week late. |
4-H-7 Unusual but reasonable expense(s) encountered by a Pilot that are not normally reimbursable shall be reimbursed, provided he submits appropriate supporting documentation.
I think this covers your parking at LGA... I can't find the 10 day rule... It's driving me crazy because I know I read it months ago. Hopefully someone else can chime in. Good Luck!!! |
LGA trips
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I know we HAD parking in JFK. As far as LGA, I don't know. But in the contract it addresses that, and the 10 day limit under 21-H. |
I believe all EWR based pilots are eligible for JFK and LGA parking, you just have to ask. I think Barbara Maffeo is still in charge of LGA and JFK. Sadly I don't have her contact information with me. I have parking for all 3 airport and always have. This year I had to pick up my EWR pass in EWR. Previously it came through Barbara, but this year Barbara only handled LGA and JFK. I assume it works the same for everyone regardless of prior affiliations. I could be wrong; I'm just basing this on the fact that I was able to get all 3 and I am a EWR 756FO.

21-H-1 If a Pilot is scheduled to fly or deadhead from an airport serving his Base and parking is not provided for his automobile, public facilities may be used and charges shall be paid by the Company. Such charges shall be submitted within ten (10) days using the appropriate expense reimbursement system and shall be supported by a receipt.
There it is!!! Thanks shortbus, I couldn't keep my eyes open last night and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't find it. |
Crosstown pay for my SNA trips (LAX based) is showing on my pay screen as an automatic process.

That was an issue a few months ago. They were paying the $20/hr but not the mileage or perdiem... |
